AMD A6-4400M
AMD A6-4400M är en tvåkärnig processor för bärbara datorer. Den bygger på Trinity-arkitekturen och introducerades andra kvartalet 2012 som en direkt efterföljare till av Llano A-serien. Istället för förkortningen CPU använder AMD förkortningen APU (Accelerated Processing Unit). Processorn tillverkas i 32nm och har den integrerade grafikkretsen Radeon HD 7520G , minneskontrollkrets, videokodare och nordbrygga på samma krets.
CPU-kärnorna bygger på Piledriver, som är en omarbetad variant av Bulldozer-arkitekturen. Även om den marknadsförs som en tvåkärnig processor har A6-4400M bara en modul med två heltalskärnor och en flyttalskärna totalt. Processorn är alltså ingen äkta tvåkärnig CPU.
Jämfört med äldre Bulldozer-kärnor har AMD förbättrat IPC-prestandan (instruktioner per klockcykel) i Trinitykärnorna samtidigt som klockfrekvenserna höjts, men jämfört med föregångaren Llano har den flertrådade prestandan i Trinity bara förbättrats obetydligt. Den förbättrade Turbo Core 3.0-funktionen förbättrar enkeltrådig prestanda, även om den fortfarande inte kommer upp i samma nivå som Intels motsvarighet Turbo Boost. Bortsett från det har AMD även inkluderat andra funktioner som utökad AVX (inklusive FMA) och stöd för AES-kryptering.
Prestandamässigt bör A6-4400M vara jämförbar med Llano-baserade A4-3300MX. Enkeltrådig belastning kan dra nytta av den nya arkitekturen och förbättrad Turbo Core-funktionalitet. I de flesta fall är prestandan något sämre än Intels Pentium-serie. Totalt sett är den fullt tillräcklig för daglig användning av webbläsare och kontorsprogram, men i mer krävande program når den snabbt sin övre gräns.
Strömförbrukning: A6-4400M har en TDP på 35 Watt – jämförbart med Intels tvåkärniga Ivy Bridge-processorer. Den passar därför bäst i 14-tums, eller större, bärbara datorer.
