Precis som Strix Point APU: er använder Granite Ridge-processorer den nya Zen 5-mikroarkitekturen. Det finns dock inga effektiva kärnor här; alla 9600X:s kärnor är fulla Zen 5-kärnor. Dessutom är Granite Ridge en multi-die design där endast CPU-kärnorna tillverkas med en ganska modern 4 nm TSMC-process. Strix Point-processorer är en single-die design, från vad vi vet.
Enligt AMD levererar Zen 5 en 16% IPC-förbättring jämfört med Zen 4 tack vare förbättringar av branch prediction och andra förbättringar.
På andra håll har 9600X 32 MB L3-cache och 24 direkta PCIe 5-banor (3,93 GB/s genomströmning per bana) med upp till 12 ytterligare PCIe 4-banor tillgängliga beroende på moderkortet. Den stöder DDR5 RAM med en hastighet på 5600 MT/s, inklusive ECC-minne - även detta beror på moderkortet.
9600X är upplåst för överklockning. Naturligtvis har processorn med AM5-sockel fullt stöd för Windows 11, 64-bitars Windows 10 samt många Linux-distroer.
Med detta sagt kommer Radeon Graphics att låta en använda 3 (troligtvis 4) SUHD 4320p-monitorer samtidigt och den stöder också hårdvarukodning och hårdvaruavkodning av populära videokodek inklusive AVC, HEVC, VP9 och AV1. VVC stöds inte, till skillnad från Lunar Lake.
CPU-kärnorna är byggda med en 4 nm TSMC-process för god, från och med mitten av 2024, energieffektivitet. (Apple är ledande i detta avseende med andra generationens 3 nm-process)
Ryzen 5:s långsiktiga TDP är 65 W. Den kommer förmodligen att förbruka minst 100 W under tunga kortsiktiga belastningar. Om den överklockas kommer strömförbrukningssiffrorna att öka avsevärt.
