For design, power and portability, the iPad Pro 11-inch is an exceptional tablet and if you want a Pro model at this size, you won't be disappointed. Despite its brilliance however, the iPad Pro 11-inch is a very hard sell. The iPad Air is significantly cheaper whilst bringing a decent amount of power, and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is bigger and better in a couple of areas, so you need to really want that extra power and Face ID over the Air to justify this model.

In summary… it’s good. It’s a top-tier iPad Pro — these have been consistently good over the past 7 years. The newest model doesn’t really add something new on the hardware side (aside from Hover cursor with the Pencil), it just makes sure that the hardware is up to date and still ahead of the curve. iPadOS 16 does bring some much-appreciated quality of life improvements, but most of those will also come to other iPads. So yes, if you are in the market for a new top-tier tablet, you can buy the iPad Pro (2022) with confidence — it will work great and it will last you a while. A long, long while. If you are thinking about upgrading from a 2-year-old machine — we think you should be good for another generation at least.

There’s no question that the new iPad Pro is better than its predecessor. It’s the same price and comes with a more powerful chip as well as a few additional features. That said, I think it’s not as sure a bet as the last iPad Pro was when it came out in early 2021. That’s primarily because of the iPad Pro’s design, which has remained essentially unchanged for the last four years. That’s good news in some ways, because you could have bought an Apple Pencil in 2018 and a Magic Keyboard in 2020 and still use them with the M2 iPad Pro. But at a certain point, probably not too long from now, Apple will advance the form factor yet again. Not that it necessarily needs to; the iPad Pro remains well designed and continues to be a standout performer, as it should be for the price. But that landscape-edge front camera on the 10th-generation iPad tells me that we’ll see an iPad Pro before long with a more substantial redesign and not just one with a faster chip inside.

The 2022 refresh of the iPad Pro puts Apple’s M2 processor front and center. We look at the smaller 11” iPad Pro 4th gen that starts at $799. It’s available with optional 5G and in the usual space gray and silver colors. The iPad has more RAM than ever, Wi-Fi 6E, up to 2TB of storage and the usual excellent quad stereo speakers. The 2022 Pro models are compatible with the Apple Pencil 2, now with a hover feature.
