That high resolution makes it a joy to work on, and there’s enough power for serious number-crunching as well as day-to-day writing or web browsing. A better graphics chip would have made it a serious road warrior, but it can still handle the odd bit of photo and video editing when it needs to.

The Asus ZenBook UX310UA is an excellent portable all-rounder. It has the design spark of a laptop worth showing off, matched with an amazing breadth of features and smart pragmatism that sees it pack in more, higher-quality tech than its rivals. This is as close to a perfect mid-price portable laptop as we’ve seen this year. Sure, there are parts that could be improved. The display sacrifices black level for peak brightness a little, there is some flexing of the shell under pressure, the trackpad surface isn’t as silky smooth as some and the speakers are just so-so. However, stack these up next to the list of strengths and the UX310UA is easy to recommend.

First, the thin and light design combined with the powerful hardware has its price and this time it’s noise emissions. The cooling fan is always spinning even if you are not using laptop and it just sits idle. Secondly, there’s already a better version of the notebook that makes this one obsolete – the UX410UQ is nearly identical regarding hardware, build, dimensions, weight, input devices, storage options and performance but packs a slightly larger 14-inch display, somehow longer battery life and slightly better screen. We honestly can’t think of a reason to choose the 13-inch UX310UQ option.

Det här är mindre avancerade grafikkort för användare som ändå vill kunna spela spel. Nya spel bör vara spelbara, men ofta bara med låga detaljinställningar och låg upplösning. Eftersom moderna grafikkort i den här klassen har låg strömförbrukning kan även batteritiden vara bra.
