The Dell Vostro 14 5000 is a capable notebook for business workers. It has a large display, subtle design, a dedicated GPU, large storage, plenty of ports, and runs Windows 10 Pro. There are downsides, though, like the low-resolution display, limited viewing angles, and short battery life. It’s also a bit pricey starting at Php51,000 but it’s less expensive compared to ultrabooks. As a laptop for corporate productivity, the Vostro 14 5000 is a capable workhorse.

Dell Vostro 14 5402 review – some quirky decisions ruin the overall great package

Ultimately, Dell has built a device that will satisfy your office needs (no it won’t pour you coffee). However, there are some questionable decisions made here, that could have been easily avoided. For example, there is the battery, which sounds small even on paper, with its 40Wh capacity. Well, in terms of single-page Web browsing it fairs well, with its almost 9-hour screen-on time. However, if you are in a movie session, your battery will run out of juice in less than 6 hours. Considering the fact, that the laptop is offered with a 53Wh version, as well, why not only supply it with the bigger one, Dell? This is an office/business machine, right?

Dell Vostro 14 5410 review – great potential

At the beginning of this review, we praised the manufacturers who had the guts to put more powerful processors inside their business devices. Unfortunately, Dell was definitely not right to do so in this case. Regardless of whether it’s the cooling solution, the power delivery, or any other factor, it is unacceptable to have this level of performance (or lack thereof). For instance, a little while back, we had the ASUS ZenBook 14X OLED UX5401 in our office, and it was equipped with a Tiger Lake-U processor. However, the device was able to push its Core i7-1165G7 to unseen levels with the CPU sustaining a 40W power limit for long periods of time. Lastly, there is the feature list, which includes a camera privacy shutter, and a fingerprint reader embedded onto the power button. So if you are getting this laptop for office purposes, we think that it will deliver. However, don’t be fooled by the “more powerful” processor it comes with since it is nothing more than an unfulfilled potential.

Dell:

Det här är mindre avancerade grafikkort för användare som ändå vill kunna spela spel. Nya spel bör vara spelbara, men ofta bara med låga detaljinställningar och låg upplösning. Eftersom moderna grafikkort i den här klassen har låg strömförbrukning kan även batteritiden vara bra.
