Intel Atom x7-Z8700
Intel Atom X7-Z8700 är en strömsnål fyrkärnig SoC (System-on-a-Chip) för Windows och Android-enheter (surfplattor och hybrider). Den lanserades i mars 2015 och är en del av Cherry Trail-plattformen. Klockfrekvensen är 1,6 till 2,4 GHz.
Tack vare den nya 14 nm-processen (P1273) med tri-gate transistorer har energieffektiviteten förbättrats avsevärt jämfört med föregångaren Bay Trail-T (t.ex. Atom Z3795). Förutom de fyra CPU-kärnorna innehåller kretsen en DirectX 11.2-kompatibel GPU samt en LPDDR3-styrenhet (2x64 bitar, 25,6 GB/s).
Processorkärnorna bygger på Airmont-arkitekturen, som egentligen är en något modifierad krympning av den äldre Silvermontkärnan. Prestanda per klockcykel har inte förbättrats, men den effektivare 14 nm-processen innebär ett bättre utnyttjande av CPU Burst (d.v.s. Turbo Boost) och har därför något högre prestanda.
Jämfört med Atom Z3795 erbjuder Atom X7-Z8700 ca 5 procent bättre prestanda och är ungefär lika snabb som AMD A6-6210 eller en ARM-krets i prestandaklassen 2015, t.ex. Snapdragon 810 eller Exynos 7420.
I Windows räcker processorn för vardagliga sysslor som surf eller Office, men inte för mer komplex programvara eller moderna spel.
HD Graphics (Cherry Trail) bygger på Intel Gen8-arkitekturen, som stödjer DirectX 11.2 och även återfinns i Broadwell-serien (t.ex. HD Graphics 5300). Med 16 EUs (Execution Units) och en klockfrekvens på upp till 600 MHz, är GPU:n ungefär dubbelt så snabb som HD Graphics (Bay Trail) och klarar äldre och mindre krävande Windows-spel som Counter-Strike: GO i låga inställningar med rimliga framerates. Kretsen stöder också videoacceleration av 4K / H.265.
Jämfört med ARM-kretsarna presterar HD Graphics någonstans mellan Qualcomm Adreno 330/PowerVR G6430 och Adreno 420/PowerVR GX6450.
Energiförbrukning
Hela chippet har en SDP-effekt på 2 watt, vilket indikerar en TDP på under 4 watt. Det innebär att det kan användas i passivt kylda enheter.
