Intel Core i3-3217U

Intel Core i3-3217U är en strömsnål ULV-processor baserad på Intels Ivy Bridge-arkitektur som lanserades andra kvartalet 2012. Med hjälp av Hyperthreading kan de 2 kärnorna hantera 4 trådar parallellt, vilket resulterar i bättre effektivitet och prestanda, men till skillnad från Core i5- och Core i7-modellerna (från Core i5-3317U och uppåt) har inte den mobila Core i3-serien stöd för Turbo Boost (dynamisk överklockning). Klockfrekvensen är alltså max 1,8 GHz.

Ivy Bridge är en förbättrad och förminskad version Sandy Bridge-arkitekturen med förbättringar i både CPU- och GPU-prestandan. Processorerna tillverkas i 22nm istället för 32nm och är först med 3D-transistorer (tri-gate), som förbättrar energieffektiviteten jämfört med Sandy Bridge-generationen. Andra nya funktioner är stöd för PCI Express 3.0 och DDR3(L)-1600.

Prestandan med Core i3-3217U bör vara något bättre än motsvarande Sandy Bridge-processorer tack vare förbättringar i arkitekturen och högre klockfrekvens. Därför är prestandan jämförbar med Core i5-2467M.

Den integrerade grafikprocessorn Intel GMA HD 4000 har 16 Execution Units (EUs) och en klockfrekvens på mellan 350 MHz och 1150 MHz (med Turbo Boost), vilket resulterar i en prestanda i nivå med AMD:s integrerade grafik Radeon HD 6620G.

ULV-processorerna har en TDP på 17 watt inklusive grafikkrets och minneskontrollkrets. Den låga strömförbrukningen gör processorena i serien lämpliga för ultrabooks och andra små bärbara datorer.
