Qualcomm Snapdragon 660
Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 (SD660) är en snabb ARM-baserad mittenskikts-SoC som i huvudsak återfinns i Android-baserade telefoner och surfplattor. Den utannonserades under mitten av 2017 och SD660 är efterföljaren till Snapdragon 625. Den har 8 Kryo 260-kärnor (specialdesign, stöd för 64 bitar) som är indelade i två kluster. Ett snabbt kluster med fyra kärnor på upp till 2.2 GHz och ett energibesparande kluster på upp till 1.8 GHz. Klustren kan även användas tillsammans.
Utöver de 8 CPU-kärnorna har denna SoC en Adreno 512 GPU från mittenskiktet, en LPDDR4-minneskonstrollenhet (dualkanal, 1866 MHz) och har stöd för WiFi (802.11ac + MIMO, max. 867 Mbps), Bluetooth 5, och LTE (X12 LTE-modem med upp till 600 Mbps nedladdning and 150 Mbps uppladdning).
I prestandatester av Oppo R11 så presterade CPU-delen av Snadragon SD660 mellan tidigare toppskikts-modeller som Snapdragon 821 i Pixel XL och Snapdragon 835. Grafikprestandan är dock mycket lägre då Adreno 512 bara är en mindre uppgradering av den äldre Adreno 510 (på grund av högre klockfrekvens).
Snapdragon 660 är baserad på ett koncept som liknar ARM:s big.LITTLE, som kombinerar ett lågenergi-kluster (2 st Kyro med en klockfrekvens på upp till 1.6 GHz?) och ett prestanda-kluster (2 st Kyro klockade i upp till 2.4 GHz). Klockfrekvensen på varje kluster kan justeras individuellt (men inte per kärna) och den lägsta klockfrekvensen är 210 MHz. Prestandaklustret har 1.5 MB L2 cache och det energisparande har 512 KB. Båda bör använda samma arkitektur och stödjer instruktionsuppsättningen ARMv8-ISA fullständigt.
Även om bara fyra kärnor används så presterar 821 i det övre skiktet av de mobila processorer som används till smartphones och surfplattor. Prestandafördelarna 821 har jämfört med 820 beror på vilka klockfrekvenser som används. Som exempel: Google Pixels SoC har endast en klockfrekvens på 2.15 GHz och är därför identisk med många 820-varianter.
Tack vare den nya 14 nm-processen har energieffektiviteten ökat märkbart jämfört med dess föregångare på 20 nm.
