Acer har sina spelutrustning under pseudonymen Predator, både som bärbara datorer och stationära system. Vi tog en närmare titt på Predator Orion 3000 baserad på en Core i7-12700F i kombination med ett GeForce RTX 3070 och visar dig vad du kan förvänta dig av detta system i den här recensionen

Predator-serien från Acer har funnits i många år och riktar sig främst till spelare. Det finns olika modeller med denna beteckning för både bärbara och stationära datorer. Med den aktuella Predator Orion 3000 uppdaterar tillverkaren inte bara produkten utan använder även ett nytt hölje jämfört med den äldre generationen.

En Intel Core i7-12700 eller en Intel Core i7-12700F används alltid som bas (Intel Core i7-12700F i vårt exempel). Det finns dock olika modeller när det gäller GPU-konfiguration, även om denGeForce RTX 3070är toppmodellen i den här serien. När det gäller arbetsminne används alltid DDR4 RAM-minne. Du kan dock välja mellan 16 GB eller 32 GB beroende på din budget. Samma sak gäller för lagringsutrymmet, som är det minsta i vårt system med 1 TB som Acer erbjuder i den aktuella Predator Orion 3000.

Höljet till Acer Predator Orion 3000 PO3-640 ser vid första anblicken ut som ett vanligt ATX-hölje. Tillverkaren avviker dock från standarden här eftersom de främre kontakterna sitter direkt på moderkortet och inte är anslutna till moderkortet via kabel. Med sådana konstruktioner är det nästan omöjligt att byta ut moderkortet. Andra tillverkare går dock liknande vägar och installerar proprietära moderkort i proprietära höljen. Fodralet är väl tillverkat, även om utseendet egentligen är en smaksak. I leveransen ingår även en sidopanel med ett visningsfönster för att bättre visa upp de installerade komponenterna. På grund av det redan mycket begränsade luftflödet avstod vi dock från att använda den optiskt tjusiga sidopanelen under testet. Metallhöljet erbjuder åtminstone några hål för att suga in frisk luft.

Det finns inte mycket att kritisera när det gäller valet av gränssnitt. Det finns totalt 8 USB-portar, som är uppdelade på 7 TypeA och 1x Type-C. GPU:n erbjuder 3x DisplayPort och HDMI som standard. Det finns dock bara Gigabit LAN som nätverksgränssnitt. Vi hade önskat oss en snabbare 2,5G eller 5G LAN-port här. Du får också klara dig utan en SD-kortläsare. Fördelningen av portar är typisk för en enhetsklass. Därför är det inte förvånande att de flesta gränssnitten finns på baksidan. USB-portarna på framsidan är dock lite svåra att nå på grund av fodralets konstruktion.

Kommunikation

Acer utrustar också Predator med en Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211-modul. Den är placerad som ett M.2-instickskort direkt på moderkortet och ger relativt bra överföringshastigheter. Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211:s prestanda vid datamottagning kan dock inte hålla jämna steg med de goda överföringshastigheterna. Jämförelseenheterna levererar delvis bättre hastigheter här. Det vardagliga testet visade dock att man även klarar sig bra med den installerade WLAN-modulen. Vi hade inga problem med att använda den trådlösa anslutningen. Som ett alternativ kan användaren använda en RJ45-port som förlitar sig på ett killer E2600-chip. Tyvärr erbjuder detta endast maximalt 1 GBit/s.

Tillbehör

Om du köper en Acer Predator Orion 3000 får du också ett optiskt matchande tangentbord och en spelmus, som också är i Predator-stil. På så sätt är du väl förberedd för start och hårdvaran ger ett sammanhängande helhetsintryck. Tornet kan också uppgraderas med den valfria sidopanelen inklusive ett visningsfönster. Detta visar upp den inbyggda RGB-belysningen på ett bättre sätt.

Underhåll

Underhåll är inget stort problem för Acer Predator Orion 3000. Sidopanelen sitter fast med två skruvar och kan lätt tas bort. De interna komponenterna är lätta att komma åt. Masslagret kan till exempel utökas med en andra M.2-modul. Alternativt kan upp till två konventionella 3,5-tums hårddiskar rymmas.

Prestanda - Bromsad Core i7-12700F

Den nuvarande versionen av Acers Predator Orion 3000 är alltid utrustad med en sparsam 65-watts CPU. Den starkaste modellen är alltså utrustad med en Intel Core i7-12700F. Denna erbjuder mycket bra prestanda och kan alltid ge den bästa hastigheten för respektive applikation tack vare hybridarkitekturen med E- och P-kärnor. I en billigare konfiguration kan du också få Predator Orion 3000 med en Intel Core i5-12400. Denna erbjuder också en bra spelprestanda men får klara sig utan E-kärnor. Som grafikkort får du åtminstone ett GeForce RTX 3060som är utformat för spel i 1080p. Mer prestanda får du med GeForce RTX 3070som även möjliggör spel i 1440p.

Provningsvillkor

Vi utförde alla tester med energiprofilen maximal prestanda. Vi använde inte heller den genomskinliga sidopanelen i fodralet. Fläkthastigheterna kan också konfigureras via Predator Sense-verktyget. Vi behöll den automatiska inställningen för att uppnå en bra kompromiss mellan buller och prestanda.

Processor

Med hjälp av Intel Core i7-12700Fär Predator Orion 3000 i den här recensionen utrustad med den snabbaste modellen som Acer erbjuder för den här datorn. Den 65-watts SoC:n erbjuder 8 P-kärnor och 4 E-kärnor, som tillsammans kan bearbeta upp till 20 trådar samtidigt. Acer begränsar dock Intel Core i7-12700F något när det gäller maximal effekt, eftersom PL2 normalt är 180 watt för den här modellen. Acer begränsar å andra sidan den maximala strömförbrukningen här till 126 watt i högst 28 sekunder. Jämfört med de andra jämförelseenheterna kan Acer Predator Orion 3000 ändå uppnå ett bra resultat. Ändå ger tillverkaren bort prestanda för ett bättre helhetsresultat.

Acer Predator Orion 3000 i Cinebench R15-multiloop

Vi får en bra första inblick i effektiviteten i kombination med den inbyggda kylningen under Cinebench R15 kontinuerlig loop. Efter den första körningen sjunker prestandan drastiskt eftersom den ökade PL2 bara kan upprätthållas längre under den första körningen än under de fortsatta körningarna. Systemprestanda

Det faktum att systemprestanda-benchmarks inte visar hela prestandan permanent passar Acer Predator Orion 3000. Resultaten är bra och bara några få procentenheter sämre än resultaten för Intel Dragon Canyon NUC med Intel Core i9-12900. Arbetsminnet presterar ganska bra jämfört med jämförelseenheterna här i testet, även om lite mer prestanda skulle kunna uppnås med snabbare RAM-minne och lägre latenser.

Vårt testprov är utrustat med en 1 TB SSD från Micron. M.2-modulen erbjuder bra överföringshastigheter, även om de maximala värdena inte riktigt kan hålla jämna steg med jämförelseenheterna. Detta märks dock knappast vid daglig användning. Läshastigheten i 4K har till exempel en mycket större inverkan, vilket visar sig vara mycket bra i Acer Predator Orion 3000. Lagringskapaciteten på 1 TB är tillräcklig och bör inte vara mindre för en spelenhet enligt vår mening. Masslagret i Acer Predator Orion 3000 kan utökas relativt enkelt. En andra M.2-modul kan installeras på moderkortet. Dessutom finns det även plats för två 3,5-tums hårddiskar i höljet. Alla nödvändiga anslutningskablar ingår i enheten

Utsläpp - Svagt kylsystem

Bullerutsläpp

Kylsystemet i Acer Predator Orion 3000 består av en fläkt på framsidan som suger in frisk luft och en fläkt på baksidan som ska transportera ut den varma luften ur höljet. I teorin låter detta ganska bra, men i praktiken visar det sig att detta inte är optimalt. Det är inte för inte som Acer begränsar den maximala strömförbrukningen för processorn i Predator Orion 3000. Datorn sticker dock inte ut negativt i testet med endast 31,6 dB(A) i tomgång trots den mycket lilla CPU-kylaren. Systemet är också relativt tyst under belastning och når cirka 38 dB(A) i stresstestet. Om vi låter fläktarna gå på full hastighet (via spelläget Predator Sense) visar vår mätutrustning dock 54 dB(A).

Temperatur

Höljet på Acer Predator Orion 3000 värms upp en aning under belastning, men det är inte problematiskt. Den enda fläkten på baksidan skyfflar däremot ut mycket varm luft ur höljet. En ytterligare värmeavledning mot toppen skulle vara ännu effektivare här. Vi noterar processorns högsta värde på 98 °C under belastning. Detta visar att Acer redan har nått gränsen med den installerade kylningen, även om Intel Core i7-12700F fortfarande skulle ha reserver. Trots detta kunde Predator Orion 3000 ändå leverera en bra prestanda i testet. GPU:ns maximala temperatur är betydligt lägre, 70,5 °C

Energiförbrukning

Acer Predator Orion 3000 är förvånansvärt sparsam vid tomgång och låg belastning. Vår mätare visar bara knappt 30 watt. Den är upp till 361 watt under en kort tid i stresstestet, även om endast 186 watt är tillgängliga i genomsnitt. Detta beror på PL2, som bara tillåts i högst 28 sekunder. Systemets strömförbrukning ligger i genomsnitt på 338 watt under spelande. Vi dokumenterade kortvariga toppar på upp till 364 watt. Ett 500-watts ATX-nätverk är installerat, vilket klarar av hårdvarukraven.

Acer Predator Orion 3000 är en kompakt speldator och bygger på Intels nuvarande CPU-generation. Intel Core i7-12700F erbjuder mycket bra prestanda och är tillräckligt snabb för att uppfylla kraven i aktuella spel trots PL2-begränsningen. Här hade man kunnat uppnå mer med bättre kylning. Med Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070får du en konventionell modell som motsvarar Nvidias specifikationer. Modellen presterar dock bra och uppnår jämna bildfrekvenser med 1440p-upplösning i aktuella spel. Resten av konfigurationen är ganska standard med en 1 TB SSD och 16 GB DDR4 RAM-minne. Användningen av snabbare DDR5 RAM hade varit framtidssäkert här.

För att förbättra Acer Predator Orion 3000:s utseende kan den vänstra sidopanelen bytas ut mot en sidopanel med ett visningsfönster. Detta är en del av leveransomfattningen. Det finns även ett tangentbord och en mus, som tar upp Acer Predators utseende och därmed ger en sammanhängande helhetsbild

Tack vare Intel Core i7-12700F och Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 erbjuder Acer Predator Orion 3000 en bra grund som speldator. Tyvärr måste kylsystemet acceptera vissa kompromisser.

Den största kritikpunkten är den för småskaliga kylningen av processorn. Trots detta är det förvånande att Acer Predator Orion 3000 inte är outhärdligt högljudd. Tillverkaren har förmodligen avstått från högre hastigheter i autoläge på bekostnad av högre temperaturer. En självjusterad fläktkurva kan ge något bättre temperaturer under belastning. De låga ljudemissionerna under belastning hör dock också till det förflutna.

Acer Predator Orion 3000 kan köpas direkt från Acer och kostar 2 200 euro i vår testkonfiguration. För närvarande kan du också få enheten på Computer Universe för endast 1 900 euro.
