Kraftpaket.

En Core i7 12700H CPU och en GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GPU för bärbara datorer säkerställer att alla aktuella spel kan spelas smidigt på en 17,3-tums skärm (FHD, 360 Hz). Den bärbara datorn erbjuder plats för två PCIe 4 SSD-diskar och har en Thunderbolt 4-port.

Hölje - Ett plastchassi för Aorus 17

Höljet till Aorus bärbara dator är tillverkat av mattsvart plast med släta ytor. En upplyst Aorus-logotyp på baksidan av locket sätter accenten. Den tunna bildskärmsramen kompletterar den bärbara datorns eleganta utseende. Connoisseurs av tidigare Aorus 17 modeller kommer att märka att kameran har flyttats till området ovanför skärmen. Batteriet är inbyggt. Interiören är tillgänglig efter att ha tagit bort det nedre locket.

Fodralet är välgjort. Gapmåtten är jämna, det finns inga materialutsprång och/eller skarpa kanter. Basenheten och locket böjer sig lite under vridning, men detta är inget allvarligt problem vid daglig användning. Gångjärnen håller locket stadigt på plats, men en öppning med en hand är möjlig. Den maximala öppningsvinkeln är cirka 130 grader

Vikten och måtten på Aorus 17 är relativt små för en 17,3-tums bärbar dator - detta gäller även för Aorus 17 Razer Blade 17. Naturligtvis matchar båda inte måtten för en bärbar dator på 15,6 tum.

Hårdvara - Bärbar dator från Gigabyte erbjuder Thunderbolt 4

Den bärbara speldatorn har två USB-A-platser (USB 3.2 Gen 1) och en USB-C-plats (Thunderbolt 4). Den senare har stöd för DisplayPort via USB-C. Tillsammans med HDMI-anslutningen och den dedikerade mini DisplayPort finns det därför tre videoutgångar. Aorus 17 har ingen inbyggd minneskortläsare.

Kommunikation

Inmatningsenheter - Tangentbordet har RGB-belysning

Tangentbord

Den bärbara datorn har ett belyst chiclet-tangentbord med nummerplatta. De mjuka tangenterna har en medelhög tangentväg och en tydlig tryckpunkt. Tangentbordet ger efter minimalt under skrivandet, vilket inte visade sig vara besvärande. Den tvåstegiga tangentbelysningen styrs via en tangentkombination. På det hela taget levererar Gigabyte ett tangentbord som lämpar sig för vardagligt bruk.

Pekplatta

En klickplatta (~12,2 x 7,6 cm) med multitouchfunktion fungerar som musersättning. Den släta ytan gör det lätt för fingrarna att glida. Den reagerar också på inmatningar i hörnen. Padden har en kort slaglängd och en tydlig tryckpunkt.

Testvillkor

Det förinstallerade Gigabyte Control Center erbjuder olika prestandaprofiler som gör det möjligt att kontrollera bland annat CPU- och GPU-prestanda, fläktaktivitet, skärmens ljusstyrka och färgtemperatur. Vi använder oss av det högre AI-läget här. Control Center väljer sedan automatiskt den lämpliga profilen.

Vissa benchmarks utfördes med profilerna "Power Saving Silence Mode" och "Turbo Mode" kontinuerligt aktiva. Den sistnämnda rekommenderas inte för långvarig användning eftersom fläktarna kontinuerligt arbetar på full hastighet.

Vi kontrollerade om CPU Turbo används kontinuerligt under strömförsörjningsdrift genom att köra multitrådstestet i Cinebench R15-benchmark i en slinga. Höga klockfrekvenser kan bara upprätthållas under korta perioder. Därefter arbetar både P- och E-kärnan med hastigheter i det mellersta turboområdet. Att selektivt aktivera prestandaprofilen "Turbo Mode" ger inga fördelar.

GPU-prestanda

Den faktiska prestandan hos en RTX 3000 GPU beror på några faktorer: kylning, minneskonfiguration och den maximala TGP som tillverkaren av en bärbar dator väljer inom de gränser som Nvidia har definierat. Gigabyte ger den installerade GeForce RTX 3070 Ti bärbar dator GPU en maximal TGP på 130 watt (115 watt + 15 watt Dynamic Boost). Testet Witcher 3 visar dock att Dynamic Boost inte utnyttjas (eller inte kan utnyttjas) fullt ut.

Benchmarkresultaten ligger något över det tidigare fastställda RTX 3070 Ti-genomsnittet. Aktivering av profilen "Turbo Mode" orsakar en liten prestandaökning. GPU:n kan dra nytta av det snabba GDDR6-grafikminnet (8 192 MB). Processorns integrerade Iris Xe Graphics G7 grafikkärna är aktiv och den bärbara datorn fungerar med Nvidias Optimus switching grafiklösning

Utsläpp - Gigabyte Aorus låter mycket

Buller

Den bärbara datorn Aorus producerade normala ljudnivåer under hela belastningsområdet - mätt av hårdvaran. Vid daglig användning (kontor, internet) är ljudnivåerna inom gränserna, men det blir högljutt vid belastning (49 till 51 dB(A)). Fläktarna är märkbara i två avseenden: å ena sidan vinglar de något och å andra sidan avger de ett visslande ljud vid högre rotationshastigheter.

Ljudet under belastning kan minskas genom att använda prestandaprofilen "Power Saving Silence Mode" - på bekostnad av prestanda. Spelande är fortfarande möjligt med reducerade inställningar.

Temperatur

Temperaturen i höljet håller sig inom det gröna intervallet vid daglig användning (kontor, internet). Den bärbara datorn värms upp avsevärt under belastning (stresstest, Witcher 3). Stresstest

Processorn slutförde stresstestet vid 2,5 GHz (P-kärnor) och 2,2 GHz (E-kärnor). GPU:n körs med hastigheter på mer än 1 000 MHz. Stresstestet representerar ett extremt scenario. Vi använder det här testet för att kontrollera om systemet körs stabilt under full belastning.

Högtalare

Stereohögtalarna ger ett hyfsat ljud som saknar bas. Den maximala volymen är relativt hög. Hörlurar eller externa högtalare rekommenderas för en bättre ljudupplevelse.

Batteritid

17,3-tummaren uppnår körtider på 5:08 h respektive 6:06 h i WLAN-testet (besök på webbplatser via ett skript) och videotestet (kortfilmen Big Buck Bunny (H.264-kodning, FHD) i en slinga). Under båda testerna var den bärbara datorns energisparfunktioner avaktiverade och skärmens ljusstyrka inställd på cirka 150 cd/m². De trådlösa modulerna var också avstängda under videotestet.

Kort sagt levererar Aorus 17 endast genomsnittliga batteritider. Jämfört med batterikapaciteten (99 Wh) är detta inte särskilt imponerande. Konkurrerande bärbara datorer får liknande löptider med relativt sett mycket lägre kapacitet.

Bedömning - En kraftfull spelmaskin i den övre prisklassen

Aorus 17 är en kraftfull bärbar dator för spel i 17,3-tumsformat som är utformad för spel i FHD med maximala inställningar. A Core i7-12700H processor och GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GPU för bärbara datorer gör detta möjligt. En blixtsnabb PCIe 4 SSD (1 TB) ger det nödvändiga lagringsutrymmet och garanterar korta laddningstider.

Med Aorus 17 XE4 levererar Gigabyte en väl avrundad, högpresterande bärbar dator för spel.

Processorn och GPU:n kan arbeta i höga hastigheter. Dock: CPU-klockan reduceras till en medelhög turbonivå efter korta perioder. Uppvärmning och ljudnivåer ligger i det vanliga intervallet - den blir högljudd och varm under belastning. Energiprofilen "Power Saving Silence Mode" minskar bullret, men den minskade beräkningskraften är fortfarande tillräcklig för spel under vissa begränsningar.

Den matta skärmen med stabila betraktningsvinklar (FHD, IPS, 360 Hz) får poäng när det gäller svarstider, kontrast, färgrepresentation och färgrymdstäckning. Men ljusstyrkan är för låg och batteritiden hamnar i genomsnittsintervallet. Ytterligare en brist: batteriet kan inte laddas via USB-C-porten (Thunderbolt 4). Men porten erbjuder andra alternativ, till exempel att ansluta en extern GPU eller en omfattande dockningslösning.

Som ett alternativ till Aorus 17 kan man välja följande Lenovo Legion 5 Pro 16 G7 är en möjlighet. Denna får ut mer prestanda ur samma CPU-GPU-kombination och har en mycket ljusare skärm i 16:10-format.
