This product is definitely not for everyone – mainly because of the size and the price. I’d have to say – for those who just want a large device mainly for gaming or watching shows on the go but are still able to whip our a document and email side-by-side and do work, then the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is pretty much the jack-of-all-trades that you’re looking for. Plus, being able to draw with the S Pen is a huge boon that I think many people will want. That kickstand accessory is definitely one of the best kickstands I’ve used so far, and it just works very well – and that keyboard is also magnificent to type on. Spending this much on a premium tablet might be questionable for some but I am not here to tell you how to spend your money. This review is to let you know more in-depth details about the tablet before purchasing. But before we end the review – here’s one last weight measurement with the tablet, kickstand, and the Book Cover Keyboard together.

The keyboard cover does app more productivity-focused use cases, but the fact is that the Tab S8 Ultra can’t really replace a laptop, given Android’s limitations as a desktop OS. The lack of a built-in kickstand and average battery life are small concerns too. The Tab S8 Ultra is an impressive machine, but its size and price will be a barrier for some people. Being an Android fan (yes, we exist!), I was stoked to get my hands on the Tab S8 Ultra. While I appreciate its size and power, it’s made me question whether bigger is always better. After all, tablets are supposed to be relatively portable devices. The Tab S8 Ultra isn’t hard to carry around, but it’s also not as discreet as an iPad Air. While the large OLED screen makes content look amazing, that same size is also a hindrance. I also have to question Samsung’s claim that the Tab S8 Ultra can replace your laptop. While it can certainly mimic the laptop experience, proper laptops are simply more responsive and performant. Android OS isn’t as terrible as some say, but it’s not topping Windows or macOS anytime soon.

With my limited hands-on time , I wasn’t able to check out all these features (things like Duo and the second-screen for Windows weren’t available, either). So we’ll need to get these devices in our hands for more in-depth testing to know if a Samsung-meets-Google version of Android on a 14.6-inch tablet will make a good laptop substitute. If you’re already sure you want a Tab S8, you can pre-order them today. The S8 starts at $700, the S8+ at $900 and the Ultra at $1,100, and those who pre-order will get free keyboard cases thrown in. But as always, I’d suggest waiting until we can do a full review before spending hundreds of dollars on an Android tablet.

With the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra Samsung has crafted an absolutely massive, tech-filled tablet that I am sure will likely be misunderstood. With a 14.6-inch display, the Tab S8 Ultra is one of the biggest consumer tablets around. It’s bigger than the iPad Pro and it’s probably bigger than your laptop too. That makes it a very niche proposition for many. It’s also a noticeable step up on its more traditionally sized siblings, the Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. For me, I think this size is what makes this slate interesting and while I don’t doubt it’ll be lamented for being ‘too big’ the fact is that I have been hankering for an iPad Pro with a screen this size for a long time. Of course, a big screen like this comes with a very big price tag. The base price here is £999 for Wi-Fi, 128GB storage and 8GB RAM. Pay £1149 and you can add 5G support. If you’re after more storage and more RAM, then you can pay £1249 (Wi-FI) and £1399 (5G) for 512GB and 16GB RAM.

Qualcomm Adreno 730:

Grafikkrets för smartphones och surfplattor som är integrerad i Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Qualcomm hävdar att det är 30 % snabbare än Adreno 660 i Snapdragon 888 SoC. För Android bör det vara ett av de snabbaste grafikkorten i slutet av 2021.

Det här är mindre avancerade grafikkort för användare som ändå vill kunna spela spel. Nya spel bör vara spelbara, men ofta bara med låga detaljinställningar och låg upplösning. Eftersom moderna grafikkort i den här klassen har låg strömförbrukning kan även batteritiden vara bra.

SD 8 Gen 1:

Högkvalitativ SoC för smartphones som introducerades i slutet av 2021 och tillverkades i 4 nm hos Samsung. Integrerar en "Prime Core" baserad på en ARM Cortex-X2-arkitektur som klockas upp till 3 GHz. Tre ytterligare prestandakärnor är baserade på A710 men klockar upp till 2,5 GHz. Dessutom integreras fyra energisparande kärnor som är baserade på ARM Cortex-A510-arkitekturen och klockar upp till 1,8 GHz. Förutom processorkärnorna integrerar SoC:n ett WiFi 6e-modem, en Hexagon DSP (för AI-acceleration) och en Spectra ISP. Den integrerade minneskontrollern stöder snabbt LPDDR5-minne med upp till 3 200 MHz. 5G ingår nu i chipet med Snapdragon X65-modemet.
