Acer Aspire 5 A517-51G är en multimedia-laptop som är väl lämpad för vardagligt arbete. Med den nya 8:e generationen av Intels Core-serie har CPU-prestandan ökat markant. Intel Core i7-8550U har tillräckligt med prestandareserver för att inte bli en utdaterad bit hårdvara i en nära framtid. 8 GB RAM är tillräckligt för dom flesta användarscenarier, plus att det inte borde vara några problem att uppgradera till 20 GB. En kombination av SSD och HDD resulterar i ett väldigt responsivt system. För 10 600 SEK (1089 Euro) får köparen en stilfull, elegant laptop på 17 tum som väger straxt under 3 kilo.

Framför allt, Acer Aspire 5 A517-51G får extra poäng för att ha väldigt bra CPU-prestanda samtidigt som den drar (relativt) lite energi. Vidare, med Nvidia GeForce MX150, erbjuder Acer Aspire 5 A517-51G ett instegs-grafikkort som klarar av att köra ett brett utbud av spel rätt bra.

IPS-skärmen rundar av detta relativt bra paket och får en vinst för sin höga ljusstyrka. En kan beskriva nätadaptern som aningen underdimensionerad, för batteriet borde inte laddas ur vid full belastning. Inmatningsenheterna lämnar på samma sätt ett ambivalent intryck. Styrplattan däremot gör ett bra jobb, men skrivbordet känns inte helt komfortabelt att skriva på.
