Med sin ConceptD 5 CN515-51 har Acer skapat en ovanlig multimedialaptop.
Den skiljer sig utseendemässigt från andra enheter i den här klassen och har tack vare sina chassimaterial ett tydligt fokus på låg vikt. Detta är bra, men det svaga skärmlocket blir en negativ sidoeffekt. När det kommer till portarna så har Acer inte inkluderat Thunderbolt 3. Den har dessutom en extremt långsam SD-kortläsare, vilket känns väldigt malplacerat i en såpass dyr multimedialaptop. Detsamma gäller den utdaterade WiFi-modulen som inte ens har stöd för den senaste Bluetooth-standarden. Uppgraderingsmöjligheterna kan vi både ge beröm och kritisera: Även om datorns RAM är fastlött så är det lätt att uppgradera lagringen tack vare en ledig M.2 2280-plats.
Skärmen har ett brett färgomfång, men relativt stark blödning från bakgrundsbelysningen och en ljusstyrka som var lägre än utlovat gjorde oss besvikna. Vad det gäller prestandan så levererar ConceptD ungefär vad vi förväntade oss från Kaby Lake G. Bra prestanda för en multimedialaptop, men många andra modeller med nyare Intel-processorer och dedikerade Nvidia-grafikkort ger bättre prestanda. Tyvärr innebär detta inte att den istället har bättre batteritid. Ett för litet batteri ställer till den ekvationen. Vi får också ge den kritik för spoltjut, att prestandan begränsas vid batteridrift och att högtalarna var sämre än genomsnittet (för en multimedialaptop).
Inte utan kompromisser: Tyvärr har Acer valt att skära ner på kostnaden för nödvändiga komponenter. Den här datorn kan inte tävla med dyrare konkurrenter.
Det känns oklart vem som Acer marknadsför ConceptD 5 CN515-51 åt. De mest uttalade positiva egenskaperna är den låga vikten och den färgglada skärmen. Med dessa styrkor kan den tänkas vara en dröm för varje fotograf. Men fotografer kommer troligen bli extremt irriterade av den långsamma SD-kortläsaren. Batteritiden är också ett problem. Det går även att spela spel på ConceptD, men den är inte riktigt gjord för det heller.
