Acers ConceptD marknadsförs som ett högpresterande multimediasystem för kreatörer. Resultatet av vår recension stödjer bara till viss del detta, för Acer har tagit en del genvägar. För över 20.000 kronor får den som inte behöver tänka på priset en tjusig multimedialaptop med en lyx som i ljuset av all funktionalitet ändå är ganska sval och tyst. Dessutom är energiförbrukningen mer än rimlig.
Men det sistnämnda kommer av dåligt presterande komponenter. I synnerhet stryps processorn kraftigt och värmeutvecklingen i det lilla chassit reducerar prestandan ytterligare. Dessutom faller datorkraften ordentligt vid batteridrift.
Den som helt och hållet väljer sitt multimediasystem utifrån hårdvarans egenskaper klarar sig nog bättre med en billigare konkurrent. Men ConceptD har ett äss i rockärmen i form av sin ljusstarka 4K-skärm, som har ett bra kontrastförhållande och riktigt bra färgrymdstäckning. Få andra multimediamaskiner kan tävla på den punkten. Här får man helt enkelt offra det ena eller det andra.
ConceptD 7 är tjusig, tyst, sval och ekonomisk och den känns väldigt lyxig. 4K-skärmen, som har hög färgrymdstäckning, kan vara den avgörande faktorn. Men Acers prestanda är en besvikelse med kraftig CPU-strypning som leder till ett betydligt långsammare system än vad konkurrenterna erbjuder.
