Efter Spin 5 så har Acer producerat en till omvandlingsbar - och den här riktar sig åt den som spelar ibland. Men bortsett från en aningen ändrad design som nu har röda element så är det inte omedelbart uppenbart huruvida andra förändringar har gjorts till spelversionen. Som vi redan nämnt i recensionen så finns det två stora skillnader mellan insidan på Acer Spin 5 och Acer Nitro 5 Spin. Chi Mei-skärmen i Nitro är ungefär 100 cd/m² ljusstarkare, har snabbare responstid och erbjuder större färgrymdstäckning, men har också lägre kontrastförhållande och svärta än skärmen på Spin 5. Dessutom har Acer valt en Micron SSD för Nitro 5 medans Spin 5 är utrustad med en betydligt snabbare Intel SSD.
Som köpare borde man inte basera sitt beslut endast på färgen på höljet. Vilka skärmegenskaper är viktigast för dig? Är du villig att ge upp på den snabbare SSD-enheten? Som vi har sett i våra tester så erbjuder Nitro liknande prestanda som Spin 5. Prestandatestresultaten från "Tomb Raider", som vi kunde jämföra direkt, är bra - för en omvandlingsbar - tack vare GeForce GTX 1050. Det borde inte vara några problem med att spela aktuella spel på denna 2-i-1 enhet.
Vi hade förväntat oss lite mer än ett rött "WASD"-tangentbord från en spelversion. Acer kunde ha gjort mer betydande ändringar mellan Nitro 5 och den vanliga Spin 5, som att lägga till en Ethernet-port eller förbättra kylsystemet.
Ett alternativ som presterar högt kan vara Asus ZenBook Flip 15, som också är utrustad med ett Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050, även om den bara har 2 GB VRAM tillgängligt. Som vi såg i Tomb Raider-testet så erbjuder den ungefär samma prestanda som Acer Nitro. Dess systemprestanda är mycket sämre än Nitros trots utmärkta Cinebench-resultat. Och en 4K-skärm innebär att Asus-modellen behöver betydligt mer kraft och har 25% kortare batteritid än vår enhet från Acer. Beroende på enheternas aktuella priser så får köparen själv avgöra vilken modell som känns mest värd pengarna.
