Den här testuppdateringen är främst till för att ta reda på vilka prestandaförbättringar man kan förvänta sig från de snabbare komponenterna, och vilken effekt de har på temperaturer, fläktljud och batteritid. Det dedikerade grafikkortet AMD Radeon Pro 460 gjorde det mest positiva intrycket, eftersom det är i genomsnitt ca 40% snabbare än instegsmodellen Radeon Pro 450. Vi anser att det motiverar merkostnaden.
Processorn är mindre imponerande. Core i7-6920HQ är ca 10 till 15% snabbare än den vanligare Core i7-6700HQ, men så är också fallet med den nyare instegsmodellen i7-7700HQ, så i princip betalar du för en "gammal" uppgradering. Processorarkitekturen är identisk, så att byta ut Skylake-modellerna mot nya Kaby Lake borde inte vara ett stort problem. Trots det får Apple-användare antagligen vänta tills nästa uppdatering.
Ett annat onödigt problem är strömadapterns begränsningar. Du får inte ut maximal prestanda när du belastar båda komponenterna maximalt. Att kylningslösningen skulle klara av det gör inte detaljen mindre irriterande. Andra fördelar och nackdelar från instegsmodellen gäller naturligtvis även här, så kika gärna på vårt test av den. Vi kan definitivt rekommendera GPU-uppgraderingen, men den dyrare processorn är mindre valuta för pengarna.
