FX550UI lider av samma problem som många äldre bärbara AMD-baserade speldatorer. I det här fallet blir den långsamt presterande FX-9830P APU:n en flaskhals som begränsar dess i övrigt väl presterande RX 460 GPU. Systemets prestanda-per-Watt är dessutom underlägsen vad Nvidia erbjuder för tillfället. Energiförbrukningen är jämförbar med konkurrerande datorer med de kraftfullare Intel HQ-klass CPU:erna och GTX 1050-grafik. FX550UI håller sig därför inte nödvändigtvis längre, svalare eller tystare än aktuella Intel/Nvidia-alternativ trots att den presterar sämre.
Den dåligt matchade kombinationen av Bristol Ridge och Polaris 11 är inte det enda att skylla på. Faktumet att FX550UI är en tömd version av den mycket äldre FX550DM gör att hela datorn känns ogenomtänkt. Det tomma utrymmet för en optisk enhet är bara ett slöseri med plats och TN-skärmen är bristfällig. AMD förtjänar bättre hårdvara från Asus likt UX550 eller ROG Strix G501-serierna. Det börjar synas större investeringar i AMD-datorer nu när GL702ZC är tillgänglig och vi hoppas att detta kommer leda till ett bättre AMD-utbud i framtiden.
Priset är fortfarande en av dom största fördelar FX550UI har över Nvidia-alternativen. För ca 5 500 kr ($700 USD) är Asus-modellen runt 1 600 - 2 400 kr ($200 - $300 USD) billigare än en Pavilion 15 eller en Sabre 15 med i7-7700HQ och GTX 1050-grafik. Dom som väljer att investera lite extra pengar i ett aktuellt Nvidia-system kommer uppleva stora förbättringar jämfört med FX550UI, särskilt när det gäller CPU-prestanda.
Det är svårt att rekommendera FX550UI på grund av det billiga plastchassit, den långsamma processorn och den dåliga TN-skärmen. Spelintresserade med liten budget borde istället spara lite till en nyare bärbar med GTX 1050 eller till en äldre och billigare med GTX 965M.
