Våra farhågor om prestandastrypning visade sig obefogade – GL502VY levererar maximal prestanda under spelbelastning. Både komponent- och yttemperaturerna hålls i schack genom högre och snabbare fläktar, så hörlurar rekommenderas ännu mer än till GL502VT.

G-Sync och Optimus är fortfarande inte kompatibla och det tar ut sin rätt på batteritiden. Lyckligtvis är det få gamers som sätter lång batteritid och hög färgreproduktion i främsta rummet. Panelen i GL502VY har snabbare svarstider och adaptiv synkronisering för en bättre spelupplevelse än GL502VT, utöver de uppenbara prestandafördelarna från ett GTX 980M jämfört med GTX 970M.

Våra största invändningar är kanske bristen på mer VRAM och externt G-Sync stöd. Det hade gjort plattformen mer flexibel.

Det finns inte alltför många 15,6-tums bärbara datorer med GTX 980M utöver barebones, Alienware 15, Gigabyte P35X, Acer Predator 15 och Aorus X5S. GL502-serien har inte stöd för uppgraderbar CPU eller GPU som är fallet med barebones, och färre funktioner än både Alienware 15 och Aorus X5S. Däremot är den ett stadigare bygge än både P35X och Aorus, samtidigt som den är mindre än Alienware 15 och Predator 15.
