ROG Zephyrus S GX531GS är ett perfekt exempel på när en tillverkare går lite för långt i sin iver att göra en tunn laptop.
Ja, från ett marknadsföringsperspektiv kan det vara trevligt att kunna säga att man har den tunnaste toppskikts-laptopen i världen. Men om din enhet låter mer än konkurrenter som använder samma kärnkomponenter och prestandan i 3D-applikationer ändå är aningen svagare så kan tunnheten snart försvinna i bakgrunden då det ändå bara rör sig om några millimeter.
Det är också ett mysterium varför tangentbordet inte sitter där det brukar göra på bärbara datorer, varför utbudet av anslutningar har minskat (GX501 hade fortfarande Thunderbolt 3), varför batteriet är onödigt litet och varför servicemöjligheterna har minskat så drastiskt (endast 1x RAM & 1x M.2). Utöver Gigabyte Aero 15X v8, kan även Razer Blade 15 och MSI GS65 Stealth visa hur man gör jobbet bättre.
Utan dessa konkurrenter hade GX531 haft det betydligt lättare, då Asus har lyckats bra med många andra aspekter av denna gamer på 15 tum, såsom det eleganta och högkvalitativa höljet, RGB-belysningen och den extremt snabba 144 Hz-skärmen med hög kontrast och god färgprecision. Men trots den tunna infattningen så utgör GX531 trots allt mer av ett steg bakåt än ett steg framåt.
