Zenbook UX305FA har ett antal höjdpunkter i form av design, ergonomi, display och tangentbord. Med tanke på sin specialisering på längsta möjliga batteritid imponerar Core M inte i det här fallet, eftersom vi är vana vid lika bra uthållighet från Haswell.
Så varför en Core M istället för en billigare Haswell? Fördelen med Core M är den möjliggör fläktlös design och lägre vikt. Asus kunde använda ett lättare batteri med lägre kapacitet, men med samma batteritid. Batteritiden är ändå en besvikelse; sju timmar i WLAN-testet är inte så illa, men Haswell-konkurrenterna med högre prestanda processorer klarar samma bedrift.
Bortsett från frågan om Core M är en fördel eller inte är UX305 en välbalanserad ultrabook som har mycket att erbjuda för professionella användare och krävande hemanvändare. Den riktar sig inte i första hand till prestandaentusiaster, utan köpare som väljer bärbar dator enligt andra referenskriterier.
Den ljusstarka, stabila 13-tumsenheten känns bra i handen. Tangentbordet har bra feedback och är lämpligt för användare som skriver mycket. Olyckligtvis är det inte bakgrundsbelyst. Skärmen med QHD+/4K har svag kontrast (413:1), men fördelarna, såsom jämn, hög ljusstyrka och utmärkt färgåtergivning kompenserar ändå för nackdelarna.
Konkurrenterna är inte ute ur leken, även om deras priser är högre överlag. Apples MacBook Pro Retina 13 och Toshibas Portege Z30t-A-10X är definitivt värda att överväga. Det billigare alternativet med Full HD-skärm för 800 euro innebär ändå att Zenbook UX305 står obesegrad som det mest prisvärda alternativet.
