Test: Dell Latitude 3590 - Kontorslaptop med stora brister

Verkligen inte nära, definitivt ingen hare.

Dell har släppt en ny version ur sin 3000-serie riktad åt kontor och företag och den lägger till ytterligare problem till seriens redan kända svagheter. Den senaste versionen har inte bara problem med skärmen, som vi hade ogillat om den så suttit i en budgetlaptop på 4.000 kronor, utan den har också andra problem på den tekniska sidan. Utöver detta har den dock riktigt bra batteritid.

Display Response Times

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

The display backlight flickers at 250 Hz (worst case, e.g., utilizing PWM) Flickering detected at a brightness setting of 90 % and below. There should be no flickering or PWM above this brightness setting.

The frequency of 250 Hz is relatively low, so sensitive users will likely notice flickering and experience eyestrain at the stated brightness setting and below.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 8705 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 343500) Hz was measured.

På den positiva sidan av fördel/nackdel-listan har detta misslyckade försök till en kontorslaptop ändå riktigt bra inmatningsenheter och väldigt bra batteritid. På så sätt levererar Dell Latitude 15 3590 på sina utlovade proffsambitioner. Detta gäller också det inkluderade säkerhetspaketet och de företagsorienterade anslutbarhetsalternativen. Chassit imponerar också.

Det som däremot är oacceptabelt på en enhet för 8.000 kronor är skärmen, som är förskräcklig på alla sätt som kan tänkas. Det är en TN-skärm med horribla betraktningsvinklar, miserabel kontrast, en skarp blå ton vid leverans och ett riktigt lågt färgomfång. Utöver detta kommer en undermålig kortläsare, påtagligt dålig WLAN-prestanda och en fläkt som konstant tjuter i bakgrunden trots att datorn knappt är under belastning alls. Detta beror utan tvekan på den oanvändbara fläktprofilen och fläktkontrollen, som resulterar i helt kaotiska klockfrekvensbeteenden och massiv sporadisk strypning vid belastning.

Det är inte utan att man undrar vad Dell tänkte när de släppte denna i princip ofärdiga dator. Vår rekommendation är tydlig: Undvik!

Det skulle faktiskt vara en utmaning att hitta en mindre elegant och sämre utvecklad kontors/företagslaptop i det här prisskiktet.
