Även om den inte är lika elegant som Dells egna 13- och 15-tums XPS-modeller är Latitude 7480 på något sätt ändå en proffsvariant av de lovordade konsumentmaskinerna. Den snygga 14-tummaren är mindre och mycket lättare än tidigare, men byggkvaliteten är otvivelaktigt hög.

Chassit är styvt med snäva toleranser och har en mjuk, beröringsvänlig finish. Skärmen är ljusstark, med noggranna färger och få reflexer. Prestandan är också utmärkt; även om vissa CPU-specifika tester inte når hela vägen utmärker sig datorn i syntetiska prestandatester. Och batteriet räcker hela dagen även om det inte är fulladdat. Inmatningsenheterna är mycket bra – särskilt tangentbordet, som vi tycker är ett av de bästa på marknaden för närvarande.

Om det finns något stort minus är det ”spoltjutet” som hörs från minst 3 meters avstånd och verkar vara finnas närvarande oavsett belastning (men är naturligtvis mest märkbart när datorn går på lågvarv). Vi hoppas verkligen att det bara är vår testmodell som för oväsen, men med tanke på att vi hörde samma typ av oljud även när vi testade Latitude 5480 och 7280 skulle vi inte bli överraskade om det är ett vanligt problem.
