XPS 13 9380 är en gedigen subnotebook som åtgärdar de klagomål som fanns på 9360- och 9370-serierna rörande webbkameran. Allt vi gillade och ogillade med 9370-serien gäller även här. Vi är istället intresserade av att svara på frågan: Är Core i7 SKU:n värd kostnaden jämfört med Core i5 SKU:n?
Att välja Core i7-konfigurationen ger en genomsnittlig prestandaökning på runt 10 procent jämfört med Core i5-konfigurationen för ett pris på 2.500 kr extra. Detta hade inte gjort så mycket om Dell dessutom hade dubblat RAM och/eller lagringen mellan de två prisnivåerna, men så är inte fallet. Vi rekommenderar verkligen att välja en konfiguration med Core i5 och istället investera pengar i garanti eller mer RAM om så är möjligt.
Den som ändå föredrar en konfiguration med Core i7 kommer upptäcka att batteritiden och temperaturerna inte skiljer sig särskilt mycket jämfört med Core i5 SKU:n. Fläkten låter mer, men det märks dock bara vid kraftig belastning. På så sätt kommer den lilla ökningen i CPU-prestanda åtminstone inte med några större nackdelar.
Den dyraste konfigurationen av XPS 13 är snabbare än mittenskikts-konfigurationen, men skillnaden är ganska liten i jämförelse med den stora prisskillnaden mellan de två varianterna. Vi rekommenderar att istället investera pengarna i mer påtagliga attribut såsom extra RAM, mer lagring eller den tryckkänsliga 4K UHD-skärmen.
Uppdatering 2019-03-12: Fem extra timmar med FHD
Om du regelbundet är ute på resande fot och ofta arbetar utomhus är den matta FHD-skärmen ett mycket bättre alternativ. Inte bara på grund av den matta panelen utan också för att du får fem timmar extra batteritid (WiFi-test), vilket var en riktigt trevlig överraskning.
Utöver den lägre upplösningen och bristen på tryckkänslighet så är FHD-skärmen inte sämre än 4K-skärmen. Den täcker 99% av sRGB (94% för 4K-varianten) och har dessutom bättre färgprecision oavsett om den kalibrerats eller inte.
Om färgprecision och mobilitet är viktigt för dig rekommenderar vi verkligen att du väljer AOU FHD-skärmen framför 4K-skärmen.
Poäng: Den extra batteritiden skulle öka batteriomdömet från 90% till 96% och den totala poängsumman från 87.7% till 88.4%.
