Det finansiella målet nåddes på rekordtid och projektet fick tillslut mer än 1800% av sitt mål. Nu är det dags att förbereda enheterna för leverans till de som stött projektet samt göra dom tillgängliga för intresserade köpare. Vi har redan testat enheten och jämför alla tre CPU-modellerna tillgängliga för Eve V.

Display Response Times

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.
Screen flickering / PWM detected 985 Hz ≤ 25 % brightness setting

The display backlight flickers at 985 Hz (worst case, e.g., utilizing PWM) Flickering detected at a brightness setting of 25 % and below. There should be no flickering or PWM above this brightness setting.

The frequency of 985 Hz is quite high, so most users sensitive to PWM should not notice any flickering.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 8774 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 343500) Hz was measured.

Och här är den, folkets nya omvandlingsbara Eve V! Här är en sammanfattning av vårt test:

I fråga om höljet visar sig Eve V vara en vinnare. Det helgjutna aluminium-höljet och Alcantara-tangentbordet har en känsla av hög kvalitet, visar inga svagheter i sin konstruktion och verkar väldigt robust. På nästan 1.4 kg är systemet egentligen inte lättare än aktuella Ultrabook-modeller. Men det är också den enda verkligt negativa aspekten av vår utvärdering. De bra anslutningsmöjligheterna är å andra sidan en positiv aspekt. Med två Typ-A USB 3.0 och två Typ-C anslutningar, där en är en full Thunderbolt 3-port, så är du väl utrustad för alla eventualiteter. Vi gillade också tangentbordet och det är fullt tillräckligt för längre skrivuppgifter. Vår erfarenhet med inmatningen från den inkluderade N-Trig pennan var tillfredställande och det är definitivt lovvärt att endast erbjuda paket med tangentbord och penna inkluderade så som Eve-Tech gör. På detta sätt kan man undvika att "överraska" användaren med dolda kostnader.

Skärmen erbjuder väldigt bra ljusstyrka och kontrast. Eve V kommer med en kalibrerad skärm direkt ur lådan och har relativt exakta färger. 3K-upplösningen ger hög bildskärpa, men kan leda till problem med specifika program på grund av den nödvändiga Windows-skalningen.

Eve V är en attraktiv enhet, men borde inte överskattas.

Sen till Eve Vs prestandareserver: För detta projekt valdes processorer från Intels Y-serie. Dessa är passivt kylda chip med en TDP på 4.5 watt. Även om i5-7300U i Surface Pro kan erbjuda mycket högre prestanda en kort stund så kommer den under långvarig belastning jämna ut sig med den i5-7Y54-modell vi provar här. Samtliga testade CPU-modeller (m3, i5, i7) visar nästan stabil prestanda under konstant belastning. Men det var underligt att m3-modellen som vi hade här klarade sig mycket bättre i många av våra tester än de mycket dyrare i5- och i7-modellerna. Eve V är en bra enhet för grundläggande kontorsarbete, särskilt med tanke på den långa batteritid den kan uppnå. För innehålls-skapare kommer enhetens CPU snart att bli en flaskhals för komplex mjukvara.

Eve V är tillgänglig från ca 7 900 SEK (799 Euro). Men utöver m3-CPU:n får du bara 128 GB lagringsutrymme, vilket kan vara för lite för många användare. Nästa steg är i5-modellen med 256 GB lagringsutrymme, som redan kostar ca 11 800 SEK (1199 Euro). Ett tillägg på ca 4 000 SEK (400 Euro) för en CPU som knappt visar några fördelar och 128 GB ytterligare lagringsutrymme är ganska mycket. Det fortsätter på detta sätt: i5, 16 GB RAM och 512 GB lagring kostar ca 15 200 SEK (1549 Euro), i7-modellerna börjar på ca 16 200 SEK (1649 Euro) och topp-modellen med i7, 16 GB RAM och 1 TB SSD (Samsung PM961) kostar maffiga 19 700 SEK (1999 Euro).

I jämförelse med konkurrensen såsom Surface Pro från Microsoft hittar Eve V en bra nivå i fråga om pris (Surface Pro i5-7300U, 256 GB SSD, 8 GB: ca 11 300 SEK (1149 Euro) + Type Cover ca 1 800 SEK (179 Euro) + Surface Pen ca 1 100 SEK (109 Euro)), särskilt med tanke på att tangentbord och penna är inkluderade i paketet. Men tittar man på prisskillnaderna mellan modellerna ser vi att pristilläggen för de andra modellerna som följer Microsofts stil är väl tilltagna, särskilt med tanke på att skillnaden mellan processorerna är minimal.

Eve V har redan skickats till de som gett stöd åt projektet och borde anlända snart. Andra intresserade köpare kan börja beställa online från 4:e December.
