Det finns så mycket att gilla med EliteBook x360 1020 G2. Dess största dragplåster är kanske den starkt Spectre-inspirerade omvandlingsbara design-filosofin, den superljusstarka skärmen som är ljusare än någon konsumentlaptop som finns tillgänglig och ett surfplatte-läge som faktiskt är lätt och inte är klumpigt på resande fot. Det höga ljudet och balanserade ljudkvaliteten och den tillfredställande återkopplingen från tangentbordet är överraskande plus som bevisar att sådana funktioner inte behöver vara begränsade på små modeller. Vi uppskattar särskilt faktum att HP inte har förbisett säkerhetsfunktionerna trots fokus på en tunnare och smidigare profil. Kombinera detta med 4K UDH- och FHD 120 Hz Sure View-skärmalternativ och 1020 G2 blir en unik omvandlingsbar för företag utan någon riktig like.

Även om 1020 G2 är unik i den omvandlingsbara subnotebook-kategorin för företag så är den långt ifrån perfekt. Det finns en lång lista över exkluderade funktioner och andra underligheter som intresserade köpare kan vilja tänka på i vår Pro- och Con-lista. Dess utbud av portar är fortfarande väldigt begränsat och är svårt att ignorera för en företagsklassad laptop.

På en djupare nivå så visar skärmen en del tydliga nackdelar trots den väldigt ljusa fasaden. För det första så är graden av bleeding hos bakgrundsbelysningen alldeles för hög för ett flaggskeppssystem i den här prisklassen och är något vi snarare hade förväntat oss från en laptop på konsument-nivå. För det andra så är PWM närvarande på nästan alla ljusstyrkenivåer vilket kan riskera att skrämma bort användare som är känsliga för skärmflimmer. Den väldigt starka bakgrundsbelysningen förvärrar faktiskt detta problem då skärmen flimmrar vid högre ljusintensitet jämfört med dom flesta andra laptops. Till sist är skärmen en aning grynig för att vara en blank modell och ljusstyrkan tappar snabbt i intensitet om man inte sitter direkt framför skärmen. Skärmarna hos Surface Pro och Miix 520 framstår vid jämförelse som skarpare och har inga problem med ljusstyrkans enhetlighet oavsett orientering. Vi är osäkra på om detta beror på Sure View-lagret eller om modeller utan Sure View också lider av dessa avvikelser och det är något vi kommer att undersöka vidare för ytterligare SKU:er.

Vår önskelista för en efterföljare till EliteBook x360 1020 G2 är kort men berättigad. USB Typ-A, MicroSD, 4G LTE, 4K UHD 120 Hz, matt tryckkänslig skärm och Kaby Lake-R eller Iris Pro hade fört serien långt över Surface Pro, MacBook 12, XPS 13 9365 och Latitude 7280. Att åtgärda PWM och byta till fläktar med större diameter hade irriterat färre av dom användare som är känsliga för flimmer och högfrekventa fläktljud. Till dess är detta den bästa Windows-baserade omvandlingsbara subnotebook som finns tillgänglig i fråga om synlighet utomhus, taktila aspekter, ljudkvalitet och säkerhet.

EliteBook x360 1020 G2 har skärmfunktioner som inte finns på någon annan företagslaptop i den här storleken, inklusive ett alternativ för en ljusstark 120 Hz-skärm på 700 nit. Det finns en del underliga karaktärsdrag i fråga om ljusstyrka vid vissa betraktningsvinklar och en viss grynighet hos den blanka skärmen. Oavsett, användare som är vana vid att bära donglar och adaptrar och har nytta av både surfplatte-läget och den väldigt ljusstarka skärmen kommer inte att bli besvikna på denna definitivt attraktiva företagsmaskin.
