Huaweis Mate S är en lyckad smartphone som främst övertygar med enastående kvalitet och snygg design. Den erbjuder även bra batteritid, en anständig kamera, förstklassig samtalskvalitet och ett fräscht operativsystem i form av Googles Android 5.1 Lollipop, som fungerar mycket smidigt.

Men vi förstår inte riktigt varför Huawei vill ha nästan 1 500 kr mer för den än P8. Även om enheten ger ett högre kvalitetsintryck och har dubbla interna lagringskapaciteten samt en snabbare SoC, kommer man billigare undan med en likvärdigt konfigurerad P8.

Det är också synd att Force Touch inte finns tillgängligt vid lanseringen. Det ska emellertid anlända i Europa i år. Huawei kunde inte bekräfta om det kommer att påverka priset. Detta särdrag ökar höjden med halv millimeter på grund av det extra skiktet över pekskärmen.

Den största bristen är de något begränsade anslutningsmöjligheterna. Varken LTE Cat. 6 eller en IR-port är installerad och gränssnitten för mediauppspelning är också relativt få. Å andra sidan är Mate S utrustad med en mycket bra fingeravtrycksläsare med några extra funktioner. Totalt sett är enheten en utmärkt smartphone.
