Intel Core i5-8500T är en sexkärnig procesor som skulle bli en utmärkt bas för en kraftfull kontorsdator eller en liten vardagsrums-PC. Intel har även inkluderat en UHD Graphics 630 GPU, vilket innebär att man behöver en dedikerad GPU om man vill spela spel. Tänk på att Core i5-8500T bara fungerar med ett moderkort som har ett chippset från Intel 300-serien.

TDP-värdet på 35W som Intel anger är ett teoretiskt värde som vår test-CPU konsekvent överskred under testerna när vi lämnade den på "auto"-inställningar. Core i5-8500T kan till och med köras under sitt TDP-värde, men då behöver man ändra det i BIOS. I korthet: processorn är tillräckligt effektiv för att kunna kylas passivt.

Core i5-8500T är på grund av sin energieffektiva design lämplig för många olika uppgifter. Den kan till och med kombineras med en kraftfull GPU för en del spelande även om Intel inte marknadsför Core i5-8500T som lämplig för sådana aktiviteter.

Med det sagt kostar Core i5-8500T för tillfället runt 3.400 kronor, vilket är betydligt dyrare än jämförbara APU:er från AMD. Vidare kostar Ryzen 7 2700X, som har 8 kärnor och 16 trådar, för tillfället lika mycket som Core i5-8500T. Den sistnämnda APU:n är dock uppskattad till 105 W, vilket är nästan dubbelt så mycket som den högsta nivån Core i5-8500T förbrukade i våra tester.

Tyvärr har Intels priser bara verkat öka det senaste. Företaget har för tillfället problem med produktionen av vissa processorer vilket hindrar dem från att möta marknadens efterfrågan.
