Våra första prestandatester med ett referenssystem från Intel som använder en Core i7-1185G7, det nya toppskiktschippet från Lake U-serien, var riktigt lovande och chippet lämnade ett utmärkt intryck. Intel visar verkligen vad en välkonfigurerad version med tillräcklig kylning är kapabel till. Prestandan är riktigt imponerande för en fyrkärnig CPU och den kan slå både Intels och AMD:s sexkärniga processorer. Snabba Ryzen 7 4800U med 8 kärnor är fortfarande före i ett antal flerkärniga tester i det här TDP-segmentet, men den riktiga höjdpunkten är den enkelkärniga prestandan som uppnås tack vare hög klockfrekvens. Den effektiva mobila processorn kan till och med slå desktop-processorer från toppskiktet såsom i9-10900K. Detta resulterar också i utmärkta resultat i programtester, vilket PCMark 10 visar.

En annan höjdpunkt är den integrerade Iris Xe GPU:n. Intel lyckas slå dedikerade instegsgrafikkort som GeForce MX330 eller 350 i syntetiska tester, men vi får vänta och se hur den faktiska spelprestandan kommer bli. Våra inledande tester på området är lovande.

Tiger Lake presterar fortfarande skapligt vid 15 Watt, så vi hoppas att det också kommer snabba modeller på 6W. Själva modellnamnet avslöjar inte prestandan, men den beror verkligen på TDP-konfigurationen och kylningen.
