För att vara den idealiska reskamraten skulle Lenovos IdeaPad 500S-13ISK behöva ha ett flertal starka sidor, inklusive användbara inmatningsenheter, ett robust hölje, en anständig skärm och längsta möjliga batteritid. Även om den får godkänt på de två första punkterna är de två sista bara delvis OK.
IPS-panelen har många positiva egenskaper, som hög upplösning, flimmerfri bakgrundsbelysning och bra färgreproduktion, men relativt låg maximal ljusstyrka. Dock får den pluspoäng för att den är matt. Batteriets livslängd är i sig ganska bra, men rivaler som Asus Zenbook UX303UA bevisar att det går att nå betydligt längre. Utöver detta bör de användbara högtalarna, yttemperaturen och brist på strypning i stresstestet noteras på plussidan.
Även om det är logiskt att den här datorn är knappast lämplig för avancerade 3D-spel (utan ett dedikerat grafikkort) är det synd att Lenovo inte använt dual-channel-RAM för att klämma ut maximalt ur grafikkretsen. Annars imponerar systemet med bra prestanda.
Användare som är nöjda med mindre lagringskapacitet kan också ta en titt på SSD-modellerna, som i vissa fall kostar mindre, men bör erbjuda bättre prestanda. Asus ZenBook UX303-serie i samma prisklass är också starka alternativ.
