Den kanske mest märkbara fördelen med IdeaPad 710S jämfört med Yoga 900, Spectre 13, MacBook Air 13, eller XPS 13 är det lägre priset. Basmodellen som vi testat här är en mycket lätt och smidig maskin på grund av den smala ramen, men kostar betydligt mindre än konkurrenterna. Därför är den ett attraktivt alternativ för användare som lockas av andra, dyrare 13,3-tums bärbara datorer. I synnerhet skärmen är utmärkt och halkar inte efter andra flaggskepp i fråga om färgreproduktion.

Batteritiden skiljer sig inte nämnvärt från den dyrare 710S-modellen med Intel Iris 540 Graphics, men fläktljudet är definitivt högre från den senare under belastning. Våra största invändningar gäller datorns flexande lock och tangenternas mjuka feedback, som kan ta tid att vänja sig vid. Avsaknaden av en USB Type-C-port är en annan detalj som separerar den billiga 710S från de tidigare nämnda 13,3-tumsmodellerna.

IdeaPad 710S utmärker sig positivt som en bas-Ultrabook med sin ljusstarka 1080p IPS-skärm, respektabla batteritid och smidiga format. De mer sofistikerade varianterna av datorn är så mycket dyrare att alternativ som Yoga 900, XPS 13, eller Spectre 13 framstår som mer prisvärda.
