MSI PS63 Modern 8RC är en imponerande mittenskikts-laptop för multimedia. Den kommer inte vinna några priser för sin kombination av CPU, GPU och SSD, men den visar sina styrkor på andra områden. PS63 är lätt, kompakt och lätt att reparera eller underhålla. Vidare är enheten tjusig, välbyggd och robust tack vare en design som i huvudsak består av aluminium.
MSI PS63 Modern 8RC är ett utmärkt val om du letar efter en multimedialaptop men inte behöver kraften från en CPU på 45 W. Den levererar gedigen prestanda och håller sig tyst samtidigt som dess 80 Wh lätt håller en hel arbetsdag.
Den håller sig för det mesta sval men blir varmare än de flesta jämförbara modeller vid ihållande belastning, vilket kan vara ett problem för en del användare. Det enda problemet vi har med PS63:s tysta fläktar är att enheten inte får ut mesta möjliga från sin Core i7-8565U processor då den stryps kraftigt när den når 75 °C, vilket exempelvis kan påverka renderingstider. Dess GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q påverkas dock inte.
MSI har också fått plats med två M.2-platser, vilket inte alla multimedialaptops har, och dessutom har man lämnat en RAM-plats ledig vilket gör det enkelt att uppgradera till 32 GB RAM om det skulle behövas. Det är synd att MSI inte inkluderat en Thunderbolt 3-port, men två USB 3.1 Gen2 Typ C med DisplayPort-utmatning är ett välkommet tillägg.
PS63 Modern kostar runt 17.000 kronor, vilket inte direkt är snällt mot plånboken, särskilt eftersom du kan få en mer kraftfull laptop som Aero 15X V8 eller XPS 15 9570 för samma pris. Du får dock offra en del mobilitet med någon av de modellerna.
Om mobilitet är en sekundär faktor är sexkärniga Core i7-8850H eller fyrkärniga Core i5-8300H bättre alternativ än Core i7-8565U. Dell säljer konfigurationer av XPS 15 9570 med de processorerna och MSI har P65 Creator och GS65 Stealth Thin. Att välja mellan en CPU på 15 W eller 45 W handlar i slutändan om preferens och huruvida du behöver den extra hästkraften som en processor från H-serien för med sig. Låt oss använda systemkraven till VEGAS Pro 16 som ett exempel:

Om du renderar i 4K bör du överväga att köpa en CPU från H- eller HK-serien. PS63 kommer att få slut på kraft med sin CPU på 15 W trots att den har tillräckligt med RAM och en tillräckligt kraftfull GPU. För att sammanfatta, MSI PS63 Modern 8RC är en utmärkt ultramobil laptop på 15.6 tum som kan tävla med de bästa multimediamodellerna på marknaden trots att den har kompromissat med CPU-prestandan.
