Det är inte lätt för oss att dra en definitiv slutsats om Microsoft Surface Laptop i7. Intel Core i7-7660U är och förblir ett tveeggat svärd. Å ena sidan har vi dom nedslående resultaten av Turbo-prestandan och det verkar som att Microsoft inte har lärt från sina tidigare misstag från Surface Pro i7 (2017).
På grund av strypning så kommer den högre Turbo-frekvensen hos Intel Core i7-7660U aldrig riktigt till sin rätt. I fråga om pris får man betala den exklusiva summan av 3 400 SEK (350 Euro) för att få en i7 istället för en i5-7200U.
Å andra sidan så tar den första nackdelen ut sig själv; det ska vetas att i7 inte är det enda som bidrar till det höga priset. Man måste också ta med en påtagligt snabbare SSD-disk och Iris Plus Graphics 640-GPU:n, som är integrerad i Intel Core i7-7660U, i beräkningarna. Det här är rätt tid och plats för att kritisera den tröga SSD-disk från Toshiba som sitter i i5-modellen och ge beröm åt den snabba SSD-disken från Samsung som sitter i denna i7-laptop. Den kraftigare Iris Plus Graphics 640 är, på alla sätt, en bättre lösning för grafiktunga applikationer, även om den inte gör denna i7-baserade Surface Laptop till en speldator.
Som i fallet med vår i5-modell saknar i7-varianten också en USB Typ-C port och en SD-kortläsare, även om dessa inte står i främsta rummet för alla köpare. Alcantara-materialet på ytan spelar inte heller en avgörande roll, även om det är en trevlig variation till dom vanliga plastytorna. Det finns inget dåligt att säga om byggkvaliteten och skalet är också av hög kvalitet. Den lämnar ett bra helhetsintryck. Mobiliteten kan också beskrivas som väldigt bra, tack vare en lång batteritid. Microsoft har studenter som målgrupp för sina Surface-laptops, som inte borde ha några problem med att klara sig igenom en dag på universitetet med den billigare i5-modellen.
Sammanfattningsvis är den ursprungliga frågan, huruvida det är klokt att skaffa en Surface Laptop i7, fortfarande öppen. Från vårt håll är den enda kritiken de konstant påpekade prestandatapp som sker efter ett par minuter i Turbo-läge. Trots allt det är i7-modellen fortfarande en betydligt snabbare enhet med bättre CPU och GPU-prestanda, även vid strypning. När man beaktar den snabbare SSD-disken från Samsung så är beslutat att skaffa en Surface Laptop i7 definitivt rimligt.
