Historiskt sett har Razers Blade Pro-modeller alltid haft nymodiga funktioner som fått dem att stå ut gentemot sina konkurrenter. Blade Pro 2015 hade till exempel en unik screenpad medans Blade Pro 2017 hade mekaniska knappar, styrplattebelysning, THX-certifiering och ett hjul för att justera volymen. 2019 års modell av Blade Pro 17 gör sig av med alla dessa flashiga funktioner och fokuserar istället på grunderna. Resultatet är den bästa Blade-modellen Razer någonsin släppt ifrån sig. Förbättringarna gentemot förra generationen är verkligen påtagliga och inte bara marginella eller ytliga; den är 22 procent lättare, 24 procent mindre, har 30% mer ljusstyrka och är 14 procent mer energieffektiv när man spelar samtidigt som den har upp till 39 procent snabbare grafikprestanda jämfört med Blade Pro 2017 GTX 1080. Lägg till RAM och lagring som är lätta att uppgradera och du får en spellaptop som tycks bocka av alla de viktiga rutorna.
Det finns ett antal aspekter som vi tror hade gjort Blade Pro 17 ännu bättre. Fastare och djupare tangentbordsknappar i stil med MSI:s SteelSeries-knappar hade förbättrat den taktila känslan och den svampiga klickplattan kunde definitivt ha lärt sig en del av MacBook Pro. Fläktarna låter mindre i "High Performance"-läget än på Blade Pro 2017, men de är fortfarande högljudda med en ljudnivå på över 50 dB(A). Macro-knappar för att byta mellan "Balanced"- och "High Performance"-lägena hade gjort det snabbare och smidigare än att varje gång behöva öppna och klicka sig fram genom Synapse. Att bygga in en dedikerad subwoofer hade förbättrat ljudets kvalitet utan att någon THX-certifiering hade behövts. Vidare var AC-adapterns kabel för styv och hade kunnat vara tunnare och mer flexibel, vilket hade gjort den lättare att bära. Bristerna är dock inte allvarliga nog för att sänka vad som i övrigt är en utmärkt spellaptop för sin skärmstorlek och ultratunna kategori.
Priset kommer troligen vara något som hindrar en del gamers från att ge den ett försök. För 25.000 kronor går det att köpa en Lenovo Legion Y740-17ICH som har samma Core i7-9750H CPU och RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU som vår Blade Pro 17-konfiguration som kostade 32.000 kronor. Huruvida det högre priset är värt ett objektivt sett starkare och en diskuterbart lyxigare chassidesign är en fråga bara du själv kan besvara. För våra pengar är det dock mer värt än någonsin att överväga den med tanke på de betydande förbättringarna jämfört med Blade Pro 2017.
Razer har strömlinjeformat sin Blade Pro-serie för ett ge en totalt sett starkare spelupplevelse. Om du letar efter en tunn spellaptop på 17 tum, hoppa över den uppblåsta Blade Pro 2017 och överväg istället den smidigare Blade Pro 17 2019. Den kostar mer än en del konkurrenter, men i gengäld både känns den lite bättre och hanterar spel lite bättre.
