Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

Philips marknadsför Brilliance 329P9H som en lyxig kontorsskärm och på den punkten blev vi inte besvikna. Bra bildkvalitet, antireflex-behandling, ljussensor, justering av rotation, vridning, lutning och höjd, en USB-C docka och en pop-up webbkamera med stöd för Windows Hello bidrar alla till ett tydligt och omisskännligt budskap. Den som har krav på hög färgprecision bör känna till att skärmen behöver kalibrering för att täcka sRGB-färgrymden helt och hållet och den har inte stöd för generösare och bredare färgrymder. På papperet erbjuder den inbyggda USB-C porten bra anslutbarhet. Power Delivery upp till 65 W, LAN, USB-portar och förstås en DisplayPort-signal. Men i verkligheten var vår upplevelse en blandad kompott och berodde mycket på vilken laptop vi använde. Tyvärr kan man inte vara säker på smidig drift. I gengäld fungerade PowerSensor-funktionen som utlovat och gav tydliga fördelar gentemot konkurrenterna.

Brilliance 329P9H är en riktigt bra 4K-skärm för kontoret som har många användbara funktioner.

Gamers kommer inte gilla att den saknar stöd för FreeSync/G-Sync, har en bilduppdatering på endast 60 Hz och har dåliga högtalare. Men som tidigare nämnt riktar sig Philips ändå inte mot gamers med den här specifika skärmen. Vid skrivande stund kostar den runt 6.000 kronor på Amazon.
