Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Schenker XMG Ultra 17 är ett utmärkt val för den som letar efter ett alternativ till en desktop spel-PC. Vår recensionsenhet är fullproppad med de allra kraftigaste komponenterna som finns på marknaden samtidigt som processorsockeln möjliggör uppgraderingar av ett slag som få andra bärbara speldatorer för tillfället kan erbjuda.

Men vi hade väntat oss mer från en såpass dyr enhet. Vårt recensionsex stryps alldeles för mycket vid batteridrift även om vi förstår att få personer kommer att lämna Ultra 17 utan nätanslutning ändå med tanke på hur kort batteritid den har.

Schenker XMG Ultra 17 är en värdig uppgradering från sin föregångare och har spelprestanda av högsta klass. Men i våra ögon var de högljudda fläktarna, det oerhörda priset och den kraftiga strypningen vid batteridrift en besvikelse.

Schenker måste också lösa problemen med styrplattan då den i princip inte går att använda när man spelar spel på grund av att anslutningen till den försvinner. Högtalarna gjorde oss också besvikna, precis som skärmens responstider. Vidare använder vår recensionsenhet påträngande och ofta onödigt högljudda fläktar, även om den förvisso klarar av att hålla temperaturerna på bra nivåer.

Med det sagt så erbjuder Ultra 17 utmärkt spelprestanda, många portar, enastående servicemöjligheter, ett skapligt tangentbord och en i övrigt imponerande 4K-skärm. Sammanfattningsvis gör Schenker på många sätt rätt med sin nya Ultra 17, men den missar toppbetyg på grund av några frusterande brister.
