När man importerar en enhet direkt från Kina så är en av dom viktigaste anledningarna ofta enhetens låga pris. Om laptopen inte finns tillgänglig utanför Kina ännu måste man ta sig förbi ett flertal hinder längs vägen, bland annat det faktum att hela köpbeslutet behöver vara baserat på andra människors recensioner då det inte finns något sätt att ta en närmare titt på enheten i en närbelägen butik. I fråga om kvalitet kan vi åtminstone tillstyrka att vår recensionenhet var mycket mer än bara acceptabel. Kom ihåg att fraktkostnader, tull och importavgifter kan göra enheten mycket dyrare i slutändan och att fylla i ett garantianspråk på andra sidan oceanen snabbt kan råka förvandlas till en mardröm. Väl köpt, levererad och mottagen så ställs man inför en kinesisk version av Windows som, om man inte råkar vara bekant med Mandarin, behöver ersättas med en engelsk motsvarighet.
Generellt sett är den MX150-utrustade Mi Notebook Air ganska hygglig. Trots det tunna och lätta höljet är den kapabel till korta anfall av hög CPU-prestanda och GPU-prestandan är tillräcklig för många moderna spel.
Tyvärr är värmen och ljudnivån vid belastning alldeles för hög, och Mi Notebook Air hade verkligen tjänat på ett uppgraderat och anpassat hölje. Höga yttemperaturer, värmestrypning och snabbt avtagande CPU-prestanda är tydliga indikationer på ett hölje överbelastat av sina kraftfulla interna komponenter. Att välja 10W-SKU:n av MX150 hjälpte inte heller mycket, och om du behöver mer prestanda är modellen på 15 tum troligen ett bättre val.
Den ljusstarka skärmen på 13 tum var väldigt bra, även om den också var väldigt blank och på grund av det kraftigt reflekterande utomhus. Dom av våra läsare som planerar att i huvudsak använda denna laptop stationärt ansluten till en extern skärm borde tänka på HDMI-portens 30 Hz-begränsning. Även om USB C-porten stödjer 60 Hz kommer den troligen vara ansluten till nätadaptern i det här scenariot. Batteritiden var undermålig och mer eller mindre likvärdig med enhetens långsammare föregångare.
Alternativ på 13 tum utrustade med MX150 är sällsynta i Mi Airs priskategori, vilket gör den här laptopen mycket mer intressant. Lenovo Ideapad 320S (13 tum, Core i5-8250U) var betydligt långsammare i alla GPU- och CPU-prestandatester, och även om HP Envy 13 kunde hålla jämna steg med Air i fråga om GPU-prestanda (tack vare dess MX150-GPU) så misslyckades den fullständigt när det kom till CPU-prestanda på grund av sin äldre dualkärnade Core i7-7500U och fick 32% sämre resultat i det flerkärniga Cinebench-testet. Å andra sidan liknade dess PC Mark-poäng dom resultat Air fick. Men trots detta så är Intels 7:e generation med bara två kärnor gamla nyheter under 2018.
Så om du letar efter en billig och ganska spelkapabel subnotebook på 13 tum och inte har något emot en potentiellt spännande import från Kina så kan Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air vara en perfekt match. Men vi rekommenderar starkt intresserade köpare att också ta en titt på den större Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro på 15 tum (Core i5-8250U, GeForce MX150) med ett mycket kraftfullare kylsystem.
