Geekom A8 använder samma hölje som Geekom Geekom A7 som har ett mycket högkvalitativt utseende och känsla. Även om Geekom A8 är extremt kompakt har tillverkaren försett mini-PC:n med ett brett utbud av anslutningsmöjligheter. Fyra USB Type-A-portar är tillräckligt, och när det gäller antal är Geekom i linje med massorna här. Det mest moderna gränssnittet för Geekom A8 är USB4, vilket kan utöka applikationsmöjligheterna enormt. I testet tar vi en titt på prestandan i samband med externa grafikkort. Kommunikation

En MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7922 WLAN-modul är installerad i Geekom A8. Prestandan i våra mätningar är bra och mer än lämplig för daglig användning. I jämförelse med konkurrensen kommer vårt testprov bara ut på toppen på vissa ställen. Den trådlösa modulen kan hantera frekvensområdena 2,4 GHz, 5 GHz och 6 GHz. Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000-routern användes för prestandatesterna. Ett RJ45-uttag är också installerat i Geekom A8 och kan användas som en alternativ nätverksanslutning. Underhåll

Geekom säljer alltid A8 förkonfigurerad, vilket innebär att du inte nödvändigtvis behöver demontera enheten. RAM-minnet och SSD-enheten kan dock tas bort och bytas ut vid behov. För att ta isär enheten måste du först ta bort de fastlimmade gummifötterna på undersidan. Undertill finns de fyra fästskruvarna för att ta bort basplattan. Här gäller det att vara försiktig, eftersom WLAN-antennkabeln inte har så mycket manöverutrymme och kan skadas. Det finns en annan metallplatta under basplattan, som också måste tas bort om du vill komma åt SSD eller RAM. WLAN-modulen kan också bytas ut och är inte permanent installerad. CPU-fläkten sitter på andra sidan av kortet och går inte att komma åt utan att demontera den helt och hållet. Med lite fingerfärdighet kan hela enheten (kort med kylenhet) tas bort från höljet.

AMD Ryzen 9 AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS säkerställer en utmärkt arbetshastighet i Geekom A8. Tekniskt sett är SoC baserad på Zen4-arkitekturen och kombinerar åtta kärnor med 16 trådar. Om du vill köpa en billigare konfiguration kan Geekom A8 utrustas med AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS som har något lägre klockfrekvenser.

Testförhållanden

Vi utförde alla prestandatester med den balanserade kraftplanen. Prestandan för SoC och RAM-tilldelningen (512 MB) ändrades inte i BIOS och lämnades som levererade i enlighet med tillverkarens inställningar. BIOS i sig erbjuder inte möjligheten att göra några ändringar här ändå.

Duellen med den nyligen introducerade Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti vann bara på vissa ställen, men du kommer inte att märka någon märkbar skillnad i praktiken.

Cinebench R15 Multi loop

Cinebench R15-uthållighetsslingan fungerar som vårt första uthållighetstest för att se hur väl kylsystemet klarar av den kraftfulla AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS. I början ser vi en ganska stabil prestanda hos processorn, som minskar något under andra halvan. Upp till 65 watt är tillgängliga för SoC på kort sikt, även om strax under 50 watt nås under längre belastning. Temperaturgränsen för processorn i Geekom A8 är definierad som 90 °C. I prestandajämförelsen räcker detta för att vår mini-PC ska säkra tredjeplatsen. Endast Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti och Acemagic F2A levererar bättre prestanda i detta test.

DPC-latenstider

Geekom A8 misslyckas när det gäller latens, och även surfning med webbläsaren Edge resulterar i ökade värden. Latenserna ökar ytterligare strax efter att uppspelningen av 4K-testvideon har startat. Geekom A8 har dock inga problem när den spelar upp högupplösta videor. Utnyttjandet av iGPU är påfallande högt med 60 procent. IGPU:n i Geekom A7 utnyttjades bara till 30 procent i samma test.

Masslagring

Geekom A8 har samma modell som vi redan testat i Geekom A7 Geekom A7. Acer-modellen levererar solid prestanda. Acer N5000 är inte en av de snabbaste SSD: erna, men masslagringsenheten behärskar vardaglig användning med flygande färger. Det finns inga termiska problem, vilket är utmärkt med tanke på den kompakta designen. Med 2 TB har tillverkaren också installerat en modell med gott om lagringsutrymme. Det är bra, eftersom det inte går att installera en extra databärare i enheten.

AMD Radeon 780M AMD Radeon 780M kan hittas i flera konkurrenter. Som iGPU för AMD Ryzen, 9 8945HSanvänds den moderna grafikenheten också i Geekom A8. Endast 512 MB RAM är reserverat för iGPU i leveranstillståndet. Detta är inte mycket men kan justeras i UEFI. Med samma konfiguration är Geekom A7 likvärdig prestanda jämfört med den nyare A8. I prestandajämförelsen kan vi också se att AMD:s Radeon 780M kan hålla jämna steg med en Intel Arc 8.

Geekom A8 med två eGPU:er i prestandatestet

Geekom A8 har en USB4-port, vilket gör att vi kan testa mini-PC:n tillsammans med våra externa grafikkort. Vi testade enheten i kombination med GPD G1 såväl som Razer Core X och ett Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. Båda grafiklösningarna levererar märkbart mer prestanda än iGPU:n i Geekom A8. I jämförelse med andra enheter ligger ökningen av prestanda på en liknande nivå. Det finns en liten skillnad med GPD G1, som kan leverera cirka tio procent mer prestanda i kombination med OCuLink-gränssnittet. Den Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti är utrustad med ett sådant gränssnitt och fungerar som en referensmodell i jämförelseöversikten.

Geekom A8 är en extremt kompakt mini-PC, vilket innebär att endast en mycket liten kylenhet kan rymmas i enheten. Utan belastning arbetar enheten nästan ljudlöst och är knappt hörbar. Detta förändras dock under belastning. Med det sagt ser vi ingen stor skillnad mellan genomsnittlig och maximal belastning, vilket innebär att Geekom A8 snabbt hörs även under låg belastning. Som mest uppmätte vi en ljudtrycksnivå på strax över 49 dB(A). Endast Acemagic F2A uppnådde lika höga värden i vårt test, medan Geekom A7 är betydligt tystare under belastning.

Temperatur

Aluminiumhöljet på Geekom A8 värms upp märkbart vid tomgångskörning. Detta är dock inte ett problem, även om temperaturen bara stiger minimalt under belastning. Yttemperaturerna sjunker till och med ibland, vilket indikerar att fläkten knappast fungerar på tomgång och att mer värme därför byggs upp i själva enheten.

AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS värms upp till 85,5 °C under stresstestning. Detta är inte ett kritiskt värde, särskilt eftersom det bara inträffar under en kort tid. Under en längre period stabiliseras CPU-temperaturen på strax under 77 °C. Vid 35 watt arbetar SoC:n enligt tillverkarens specifikationer.

Speciellt i viloläge kan Geekom skryta med låg strömförbrukning. Under genomsnittlig belastning dokumenterade vi 71 watt för vår testenhet. Geekom A8 når bara toppvärdet på 93,2 watt under en kort tid. Strömförsörjningen sker via en liten 120-watts strömförsörjningsenhet.

Test av Geekom A8: tillhandahållen av Geekom

Geekom A8 är en extremt kompakt PC - med en volym på bara 0,5 liter presterar Geekom A8 anmärkningsvärt bra. Den kompakta AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS kan konsekvent uppvisa en hög arbetshastighet. Med 32 GB DDR5 RAM och en 2 TB SDD är du välutrustad för tillfället. På grund av den kompakta designen kan SoC dock endast drivas med minimal strömförbrukning. Ändå klarar Geekom vardagliga uppgifter utan problem. I en direkt jämförelse med Geekom A7 kommer A8 till korta.

Geekom A8 är baserad på samma design som Geekom A7. Det utmärkt utformade höljet är inte bara visuellt högkvalitativt utan har också en övertygande känsla. Om något är demonteringsprocessen värd kritik. Men på grund av det faktum att Geekom alltid säljer A8 förkonfigurerad kan detta förbises. Som ett alternativ till Ryzen 9-modellen kan Geekom A8 också beställas med Ryzen 7 8845HS (799 euro). Detta sparar lite pengar, även om prestandan inte bör vara märkbart sämre. Du kommer dock att behöva göra ett val när det gäller SSD-konfigurationen, eftersom Geekom endast erbjuder Ryzen 7-modellen med en 1 TB SSD.

Geekom A8 är en snygg mini-PC med utmärkt prestanda. Tillsammans med det utmärkta utförandet och det högkvalitativa materialvalet är Geekom A8 en mini-PC i premiumklassen.

Det finns inget att klaga på när det gäller urvalet av externa gränssnitt. Den lilla datorkraften erbjuder ett brett utbud av anslutningsmöjligheter och med USB4 ett toppmodernt gränssnitt som kan utöka användningsområdet. Om prestandan hos den snabba iGPU:n aka AMD Radeon 780M inte räcker till kan Geekom A8 förvandlas till en kraftfull gaming-PC med ett externt grafikkort.

När det gäller design är Geekom A8 och Geekom A7 bland de vackraste mini-PC:er vi har testat hittills. Men den kompakta designen medför också en del problem och begränsningar. Till exempel sitter de externa anslutningarna mycket nära varandra på baksidan. Ljudnivån under belastning är en annan kritikpunkt. Vi hade gärna sett en något bättre anpassad kylenhet från tillverkaren.
