Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 14 G8 laptop recension - AMD Zen4 är inte automatiskt bättre

Högre prestanda, men sämre körtider.

Lenovo erbjuder nu sin 14-tums Yoga Pro 7 14 G8 med den nuvarande AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS (Zen4), som kan erbjuda mer prestanda jämfört med den gamla Ryzen 7 7735HS, men detta tar sin tribut på enhetens batteritid och bulleremissioner.

Vi har redan testat den nuvarande 8:e generationens Yoga Pro 7 14 (även känd som Yoga Slim Pro 7 på en hel del marknader) i några olika konfigurationer - från AMD-processorn (Zen3+) med en iGPU och en 2,5K-skärm till toppmodellen med en Intel-processor, GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop och en valfri 3K-panel. Alla versioner av subnotebook eller multimedia laptop har uppnått goda resultat och Lenovo erbjuder nu även versioner med de senaste Zen4-processorerna från AMD.

Vår testenhet är Yoga Pro 7 14APH G8 (82Y80020GE) med Ryzen 7 7840HS inklusive Radeon 780M iGPU, 32 GB RAM, en 1-TB SSD och en matt 2,5K-panel. Denna konfiguration kostar cirka 1 300 USD eller 1 200 USD som campusmodell. Som tillval kan du få det nya Zen4-chippet tillsammans med GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop och en 3K-panel för ca 1 650 USD (campusmodell: 1 500 USD) - dock endast med 16 GB RAM-minne.

Den bärbara datorns matta IPS-skärm med ett bildförhållande på 16:10 och en upplösning på 2 560 x 1 600 pixlar är en vi känner väl från föregångaren, så vi kan hålla det kort. Subjektivt sett är bildkvaliteten på 90 Hz-panelen fortfarande mycket bra, eftersom innehållet avbildas skarpt och även ljusare områden inte ser korniga ut. Dessutom är dess reaktionshastigheter bra och den använder sig inte av PWM.

När det gäller ljusstyrka var den aktuella testenheten minimalt sämre, med ett genomsnitt på 348 cd/m². Svartvärdet på 0,22 är i sin tur lite bättre, vilket leder till ett bättre maximalt kontrastförhållande. I princip ligger dock dessa mindre avvikelser inom det normala intervallet för serieproduktion.

Vi mätte panelen med hjälp av den professionella CalMAN-programvaran (X-Rite i1 Pro2) och skärmen såg redan i levererat skick hygglig ut. Även om vi noterade en minimal blå nyans och dess färgtemperatur är lite på den svala sidan, kan detta bara ses med blotta ögat i direkt jämförelse med en kalibrerad bildskärm. Färgavvikelserna jämfört med sRGB-referensen var dock redan mycket små, endast 100 % rött låg över den viktiga avvikelsen på 3.

Med hjälp av vår egen kalibrering (profilen finns tillgänglig för gratis nedladdning i rutan nedan) kunde vi förbättra dessa värden överlag och korrigera den svaga färgtoningen, men avvikelsen för rött kvarstod. Tack vare den kompletta sRGB-täckningen är panelen fortfarande lämplig för redigering av bilder/videor.

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 8705 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 343500) Hz was measured.

På utsidan gjorde den matta skärmen ett bra intryck - men direkt solljus visade sig vara för mycket för den bärbara datorns maximala ljusstyrka och skärmen kunde inte förbli läsbar. IPS-panelens betraktningsvinkelstabilitet är bra.

Prestanda - AMD Zen 4 och 32 GB RAM-minne

Lenovo erbjuder sin Yoga Pro 7 14 G8 med Intels nya Zen4-processorer och jämfört med den gamla modellen är Ryzen 7 7840HS nu kombinerats med den dedikerade GeForce RTX 4050 bärbar dator - tidigare var detta reserverat för Intel-versionerna. När det gäller RAM fortsätter den här modellen att lida av onödiga begränsningar: Medan vår iGPU-testenhet levererades med 32 GB RAM, fortsätter modellen med GeForce GPU att bara ha 16 GB.

 
 

Villkor för testning

I den förinstallerade Vantage-appen erbjuder Lenovo olika prestandalägen som bekvämt kan väljas via tangentkombinationen "Fn+Q". Som vi redan sett på föregångaren är det inte meningsfullt att använda läget "högsta prestanda" (64/60 watt) på modellen med iGPU, eftersom den resulterande extra prestandan är ganska låg, medan fläktarna bara snurrar högre. Under enkla uppgifter kan du med säkerhet förlita dig på batterisparläge (28/25 watt). Vi utförde följande riktmärken och mätningar med läget "intelligent kylning" (28/25 watt). Totalt noterade vi något ökade effektgränser jämfört med dess föregångare med Ryzen 7 7735HS.

Processor - Ryzen 7 7840HS

AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS har 8 moderna Zen4-kärnor som kan bearbeta totalt 16 trådar samtidigt och kan nå en maximal hastighet på 5,1 GHz. Dess prestanda är utmärkt totalt sett och (även tack vare dess högre effektgränser) var den 20 % snabbare under flerkärniga tester och 12 % snabbare i enkelkärniga tester jämfört med Ryzen 7 7735HS med Zen3+-kärnor. Dess flerkärniga prestanda kunde också överträffa den hos konkurrenterna med Intel-processorer (även de nya Meteor Lake Core Ultra 7 155H), medan Intel-chipen var något snabbare i single-core-testerna.

Yoga Pros grafikkort är Radeon Radeon 780Msom i det här fallet drar nytta av snabb LPDDR5x-6400 RAM i en tvåkanalig konfiguration och det är en av de snabbaste Radeon 780M vi har testat hittills. IGPU:n var cirka 11 % snabbare än Radeon 680M under riktmärkena, men den slogs i de syntetiska testerna av den nya Intel Arc GPU (8 kärnor) i de nya Meteor Lake-mobilprocessorerna. Skillnaden på 6 % mellan dem är dock inte alltför stor.

IGPU:n är lämplig för vardagsanvändning, inklusive uppspelning av högupplösta videor, och dess prestanda är till och med tillräcklig för ett och annat spel - även om du vanligtvis får klara dig utan att spela de senaste spelen. I mindre krävande spel kan du dock ofta spela med medelhöga till höga detaljer. I de faktiska speltesterna kom Radeon 780M också före den nya Intel Arc GPU, även om vi ännu inte har så många benchmarkresultat för den här modellen. Om du har större spelambitioner bör du välja Yoga Pro 7 14 G8 med GeForce RTX 4050 bärbar dator, även om du då kommer att behöva klara dig utan 32 GB RAM-minne.

Överlag har Yoga blivit lite mer högljudd med Zen4-processorn, vilket också beror på dess ökade effektgränser. Fläktarna startar också lite snabbare vid daglig användning än på föregångaren. Om du inte behöver full CPU-prestanda rekommenderar vi att du använder batterisparläget vid daglig användning. Värdena är fortfarande jämförbara under låg belastning, men Zen4-modellen var något mer högljudd under spel och i stresstestet. I det högsta prestandaläget uppmätte vi som mest 47,7 dB(A). Det fanns inga andra elektroniska ljud som kom från testenheten.

Temperatur

I viloläge och under låg belastning är datorns yttemperaturer helt oproblematiska. Undersidan av basenheten blir dock märkbart varm under belastning och vi uppmätte ett maximum på strax under 50 °C i det bakre centrala området. Därför bör du undvika hudkontakt i detta område. Överdelen av basenheten förblir betydligt svalare med högst 42 ° C, men dina fingrar blir också varmare här när du skriver. Strömförbrukning

Zen4 Yogas strömförbrukning har ökat i viloläge och under belastning, vilket leder till att den når 100-wattsgränsen för strömförsörjning under en kort tidsperiod. Under stresstestet sjönk förbrukningen ganska snabbt lite igen, men det lämnar inte mycket utrymme för att ladda batteriet.

Körtider

Enhetens 73 Wh batterikapacitet har inte förändrats, men dess körtider är sämre än den senaste AMD Yoga på grund av dess högre energikrav. Under WLAN-testet med en ljusstyrka på 150 cd/m² och en uppdateringsfrekvens på 60 Hz uppmätte vi 10:18 timmar (09:25 timmar vid 90 Hz) och 07:56 timmar vid full ljusstyrka (07:39 timmar vid 90 Hz). I videotestet noterade vi 12:17 timmar, vilket leder till att resultaten totalt sett är kortare än Yoga med Zen3+-processorn.

Yoga Pro 7 14 G8 är även efter bytet till AMD:s Zen4-processor en utmärkt bärbar multimediadator och i många avseenden (fodral, anslutningsmöjligheter, inmatningsenheter, skärm) har den inte förändrats alls. Processorbytet från AMD Zen3+ till Zen4 ger mer prestanda (CPU såväl som iGPU), dock på bekostnad av högre effektgränser.

I daglig användning leder detta till högre fläktaktivitet, vilket inte skulle ha varit helt nödvändigt. Här kunde Lenovo ha graderat sina prestandalägen tydligare, eftersom dess prestandavärden med intelligent kylningsläge och högsta prestandaläge är praktiskt taget identiska. Den bärbara datorns strömförbrukning är också något högre, vilket i sin tur skadar dess körtider.

Zen4-processorn från AMD kan erbjuda mer prestanda, men som ett resultat blir Yoga Pro 7 14 G8 mer högljudd och dess körtider är inte lika bra.

Om du inte behöver den extra prestandan och kan nöja dig med 16 GB RAM-minne, kan du utan tvekan också gå för varianten med Ryzen 7 7735HS, med något tystare fläktar och längre körtider - plus att du också sparar lite pengar. I vilket fall som helst är det positivt att Zen4-processorn nu också kan kombineras med den dedikerade GeForce RTX 4050 bärbar dator, men i det här fallet begränsar Lenovo tyvärr den maximala RAM-konfigurationen till 16 GB, vilket helt enkelt inte är vettigt.

Pris och tillgänglighet

Yoga Pro 7 14 G8 säljs för cirka 1 300 USD. Medan versionen med AMD-processor inte går att hitta på Amazon, går versionen med Intel-processor att hitta för 1 299 USD.
