Väl avrundade prestationer.

En Ryzen 9 5900HX APU och en GeForce RTX 3070 laptop-GPU visar alla de senaste datorspelen smidig på den matta Full HD-skärmen (240 Hz). Den senare får poäng för bra färgåtergivning. Datorn har också plats för upp till tre lagringsenheter.

Hölje - A5 levereras i ett plastchassi

A5:s väska är inte gjord av högkvalitativa material. Gigabyte väljer ett svart plastfodral med en design som kan beskrivas som sober och funktionell - den bärbara datorn drar inte till sig uppmärksamhet. Lockets baksida och basenhetens ovansida har matta, släta ytor, medan ytorna på det nedre locket och de smala lockkanterna är uppruggade. Den bärbara datorn levereras inte med någon underhållslucka. Batteriet kan tas bort från utsidan.

Chassit avslöjar inga tillverkningsfel. Spaltmåtten är korrekta och det finns inga materialutsprång. Även om basenheten kan vridas lite, håller sig hela situationen inom ramarna. Däremot saknar locket styvhet. Gångjärnen håller locket stadigt på plats och tillåter endast att det vobblar något. Den maximala öppningsvinkeln är cirka 120 grader. Det är möjligt att öppna locket med en hand

När det gäller vikt och storlek skiljer sig de bärbara datorerna i vårt jämförelsefält inte mycket åt. A5 är en av de lättare enheterna

Anslutning - Gigabyte bärbar dator utan Thunderbolt

A5 har tre USB-A-portar (1x USB 2.0, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2) och en USB-C-port (USB 3.2 Gen 2). Den sistnämnda har stöd för DisplayPort via USB-C. Det innebär att det finns tre videoutgångar tillsammans med HDMI-porten och den dedikerade Mini DisplayPort. Gigabyte har inte försett den bärbara speldatorn med en minneskortläsare.

Portarna är fördelade längs tre av den bärbara datorns sidor. Alla tre videoutgångarna samt Ethernet-porten finns på baksidan av enheten. Följaktligen löper motsvarande kablar mot baksidan utan att vara i vägen

Underhåll

När alla skruvar på enhetens undersida (det finns även skruvar i batterifacket) har lossats kan bottenskyddet avlägsnas med hjälp av en platt spatel eller ett verktyg för fogbearbetning - bottenskyddet sitter ganska hårt på vissa ställen. Efter det kan du komma åt SSD-enheten, den andra M.2-platsen, SATA-porten, WLAN-modulen, RAM-minnet, BIOS-batteriet och fläktarna

Tangentbord

A5 har ett bakgrundsbelyst chiclet-tangentbord med nummerplatta. De platta, släta tangenterna har en medelhög slaglängd och en tydlig tryckpunkt. Det motstånd som tangenterna ger skulle dock kunna vara skarpare. Tangentbordet viker sig något under skrivandet. Det visade sig dock inte vara överdrivet irriterande. På det hela taget erbjuder Gigabyte här ett tangentbord som lämpar sig för daglig användning

Pekplatta

En multitouch-kompatibel pekplatta (ca 11 x 6,3 cm) fungerar som musersättning. Den släta ytan gör det lätt för fingrarna att glida på den. Den reagerar också på inmatningar i hörnen. De två musknapparna har en kort räckvidd, men en mycket tydlig tryckpunkt

Ljusstyrkan (324,7 cd/m²) på den matta 15,6-tumsskärmen (1920x1080 pixlar) uppfyller målet (> 300 cd/m²), men kontrasten (838:1) är för låg. Vi anser att värden över 1 000:1 är bra. Panelen med 240 Hz ger snabba svarstider. PWM-flimmer upptäcktes inte

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Provningsvillkor

I det förinstallerade kontrollcentret kan du bland annat välja en prestandaprofil (se tabell). Benchmarks utfördes med profilen "Performance Mode" med automatisk fläktstyrning. Vissa riktmärken kördes dessutom med de övriga tre profilerna. Resultaten finns i jämförelsetabellerna. Profilen "Entertainment Mode" användes för batteritesterna

Processor

CPU-delen avRyzen 9 5900HX APU (Cezanne) består av en octa-core-processor som körs med en basklockfrekvens på 3,3 GHz. En ökning upp till 4,65 GHz är möjlig via Turbo. Simultan multitrådning (två trådar per kärna) stöds.

Cinebench R15-jämförelsetestet med flera trådar bearbetas vid 4,2 GHz under en kort tid, varefter klockfrekvensen sjunker till mellan 4 och 4,1 GHz. Testet med en enda tråd körs vid 3,6 till 4,65 GHz. På batteridrift körs processorn på 2,4 till 2,5 GHz (multitråd) respektive 2,2 till 3,5 GHz (enkeltråd).

Utsläpp - X1 ger upphov till mycket buller vid belastning

Bullerutsläpp

De två fläktarna ger normalt sett bara upphov till lite buller vid daglig användning (kontor, Internet). Emellanåt kan de dock vara onödigt höga - ljudtrycksnivån kan då stiga till värden över 40 dB(A). Gigabyte bör göra ytterligare justeringar i detta avseende. Med ett maxvärde på 58 dB(A) (stresstest) och 56 dB(A) (vårt The Witcher 3-test ) blir det ganska högljutt under belastning. Omen 16 får bara ett något bättre resultat än A5. MSI Katana GF66 är betydligt tystare.

Ljudnivån under belastning kan minskas avsevärt genom att använda prestandaprofilen "Silent Mode". I det här fallet körs fläktarna med mycket låga hastigheter och avger endast ett tyst väsande här. Medan CPU:n fortfarande kan köras med hög klockfrekvens kontinuerligt i detta scenario, reduceras GPU:ns klockfrekvens ganska snabbt av termiska skäl. Detta illustreras av vårt test The Witcher 3. Trots detta skulle spelande fortfarande vara möjligt - om än med reducerade inställningar.

Vid tomgångsanvändning eller låg belastning är A5:s energiförbrukning normal för den maskinvara som installerats här - de Intel-baserade konkurrenterna kräver lite mer energi i vissa fall. Stresstestet och vårt test The Witcher 3 ökar strömförbrukningen hos Gigabytes bärbara dator till upp till 272 watt respektive i genomsnitt 204 watt. Detta gör den till den mest energikrävande enheten inom vårt jämförelsefält. Batteriets livslängd

15,6-tummaren uppnår en körtid på 6:21 timmar respektive 7:15 timmar i Wi-Fi-testet (åtkomst till webbplatser via ett skript) och videotestet (kortfilmen Big Buck Bunny (H.264-kodning, Full HD) som körs i en slinga). Den bärbara datorns energisparfunktioner är inaktiverade under båda testerna och skärmens ljusstyrka är inställd på cirka 150 cd/m². Dessutom är de trådlösa modulerna inaktiverade för videotestet

Omdöme - A5 X1 gör vad den är tänkt att göra

En Ryzen 9 5900HX APU och en GeForce RTX 3070 laptop GPU (max. TGP: 140 watt) ger alla de senaste spelen en smidig och detaljerad bild på Full HD-skärmen. Upplösningar utöver Full HD är också möjliga om en lämplig bildskärm ansluts. Processorn och GPU:n körs med konstant höga klockfrekvenser.

Med A5 X1 levererar Gigabyte en solid bärbar dator för spel.

Datorn blir märkbart varm under belastning, men inte överdrivet mycket. Bullerutvecklingen är i linje med klassen: den blir högljudd under belastning. Energiprofilen "Silent Mode" leder till en betydande ljudminskning. Beräkningskraften som blir resultatet är fortfarande tillräcklig för spel - med vissa kompromisser.

Den sparsamma lagringskapaciteten (512 GB) kan utökas med en andra M.2 SSD och/eller en 2,5-tums lagringsenhet. Den matta skärmen (Full HD, IPS, 240 Hz) har stabila betraktningsvinklar och får poäng när det gäller ljusstyrka, färgåtergivning och färgomfång. Kontrasten är dock för låg. Batteritiden är helt okej. Det är synd att batteriet inte kan laddas via USB-C.

Ett alternativ till A5 X1 skulle vara följande HP Omen 16. Den erbjuder en något större skärm och Thunderbolt 4, men HP:s laptop kan knappt dra nytta av sitt betydligt större batteri (83 Wh).

Pris och tillgänglighet

I skrivande stund finns Gigabyte A5 X1 på Amazon i den konfiguration som vi testat (Ryzen 9 5900HX, GeForce RTX 3070, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD) till ett rabatterat pris på ca 16 990 kronor.
