Vi kan se att det kommer att bli hård konkurrens i segmentet av tunna spellaptops som har en design med tunn infattning. Efter att Gigabyte Aero 15X och Razer Blade 15 redan övertygat oss helt och hållet de senaste månaderna kommer nu Asus ROG Strix GL504 Scar II som en tredje kandidat och får ett totalt omdöme på 87 eller 88 procent.

Denna 15-tummare har inte bara ett tjusigt hölje med 144 Hz-skärm att tacka för sitt goda omdöme utan även bra inmatningsenheter och högtalare med förvånansvärt omfångsrikt ljud.

Å andra sidan går det att ifrågasätta varför Asus har valt ett vanligt GeForce GTX 1070 istället för Max-Q versionen. Även om standardmodellen har aningen mer kraft så blir höljets höjd och vikt lidande på grund av värmeutvecklingen och faller i många fall efter konkurrenterna på den punkten.

Men i praktiken är avsaknaden av grafikbyte ett ännu större problem. Utan Optimus-tekniken är det svårt att tänka på GL504GS som en mobil spelplattform, då man blir väldigt beroende av nätadaptern (enligt Asus ska åtminstone GL504GM med GTX 1060 ha stöd för Optimus). Tillverkaren kunde också ha gjort förbättringar när det gäller anslutningar. 2018 förväntar vi oss en Thunderbolt 3-port i prisskiktet över 10.000 kronor.

Trots dessa brister kan denna 15-tummare gå om MSI GS65, vars hölje visade upp ett flertal brister. Och i slutändan vinner den även över Schenker XMG Neo 15.
