Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Vi brukar alltid lyfta fram enkel service som en huvudanledning att äga en Clevo-baserad laptop istället för de mer populära alternativen från Asus, Alienware, Acer eller MSI. Detta gäller tyvärr inte Eurocom Nightsky RX17. Faktum att den har två till tre gånger så många skruvar att ta bort eller att man först behöver plocka loss tangentbordet bara för att kunna uppgradera något så enkelt som RAM eller lagring är ett steg i fel riktning. Clevos designer har alltid lyckats bra med att ge användaren tillgång till kärnkomponenterna, men vi känner inte att den kopplingen är närvarande i den mer stängda Nightsky RX17. När det är snabbare och lättare att lägga till en sticka RAM i en Razer Blade Pro 17 istället för i en större barebone från Clevo vet man att något har gått fel på resans gång.

Utöver att servicemöjligheterna är en besvikelse gör Nightsky RX17 inte särskilt mycket för att stå ut från den uppsjö av alternativ som finns i kategorin för 17 tumsmodeller. Ja, prestandan är enastående, men fläktens ljudnivå, batteritiden, styrplattans yta och chassits stabilitet skulle definitivt gå att förbättra. Asus ROG Strix Hero III G731GW går att köpa online med samma  Core i7-9750H CPU, RTX 2070 GPU och 144 Hz-skärm som i vår Eurocom-konfiguration men kostar 2.000 - 3.000 kronor mindre.
