Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Pixel 4a 5G är en budgetversion av Pixel 5. Den har imponerande prestanda i förhållande till priset. Jämfört med tidigare "a"-telefoner har den egentliga inga svagheter.

Jämfört med Pixel 5 har Pixel 4a 5G exakt samma mittenskikts-SoC, exakt samma dualkamera-system och ett snarlikt batteri. Men den kostar 1.300 kronor mindre. Vidare har den en 3.5 mm hörlursanslutning, vilket den dyrare Pixel 5 saknar. Enligt Google kommer Pixel 4a 5G få uppdateringar för mjukvara och säkerhet i minst tre år framöver.

Högoddsare: Google Pixel 4a 5G får rejält med poäng, inte bara för sin stora OLED-skärm utan också för sin hårdvara, som påminner väldigt mycket om den som sitter i det 1.300 kronor dyrare flaggskeppet Pixel 5.

Det finns fler områden än skärmen där de båda Pixel-telefonerna skiljer sig åt. Pixel 4a 5G har bara 6 GB RAM medans Pixel 5 har 8 GB RAM. Vidare har Pixel 4a 5G stöd för färre 5G-frekvensband och använder en 60 Hz-skärm. Pixel 5 har istället en 90 Hz-skärm, IP-certifierat skydd mot vatten och damm, stöd för (omvänd) trådlös laddning och är dessutom gjord av lyxigare material och känns bättre i handen. Pixel 4a 5G har däremot bättre samtalskvalitet.   

Om du inte behöver 5G är Pixel 4a på 5.8 tum ett bra alternativ till Pixel 4a 5G: Den är nästan lika snabb, har också en OLED-skärm och bra batteritid och den är betydligt billigare (online kostar den runt 4.000 kronor för tillfället). Om du inte behöver 5G men ändå vill ha en toppskikts-telefon är det värt att överväga Pixel 4 XL. Den kostar just nu lika mycket som Pixel 4a 5G.
