Huawei P9 Plus är inte bara en större version av standardmodellen av P9, med större skärm och ett större batteri. Plus kommer med flera nyheter, inklusive en helt annan skärmteknik. IR-sändaren och den extra högtalaren kan innebära mervärde för vissa användare, men Press Touch-funktionen är fortfarande i sin linda i Android. Kontextmenyer är t.ex. bara tillgängliga för Huaweis egna appar. Funktionen var egentligen bara användbar för zoomning i bilder, men situationen kan förbättras med tiden.
Den stora frågan är naturligtvis om P9 Plus är värd ca 1250 kr (130 euro) extra jämfört med P9 ”standard”. Svaret är inte givet, eftersom de två modellerna är så gott som identiska vad gäller huvudfunktioner som chassi, anslutningsmöjligheter, kamera, röstkvalitet och prestanda. Om man tar med alla förbättringar i beräkningarna (dubbelt så mycket lagringsutrymme, mer RAM, större skärm, större batteri, ytterligare funktioner) är nog merkostnaden motiverad, så vi kan rekommendera båda modellerna.
P9 Plus är verkligen ingen bra affär för uppåt 7 000 kr (700 euro), men mobilen behöver inte gömma sig bakom konkurrenterna. Endast videokvaliteten (ingen 4K) och grafikprestandan hamnar efter rivalerna, men åtminstone det senare är inget som märks i praktiken. Att P9 Plus fortfarande får en lägre totalpoäng än P9 – trots extrafunktionerna – beror på något sämre resultat i visa discipliner (t.ex. PWM).
