ThinkPad P50s är en Skylake-uppdatering av föregångaren ThinkPad W550s, vilket också är dess största svaghet. Utöver processorn är enheten inte riktigt uppdaterad, så du får avstå från moderna portar (USB-C, Thunderbolt, M.2-SSD, M.2-2280).

I övrigt kan vi i stort sett kopiera omdömet om W550s, eftersom du återigen får en bra och kompakt proffsdator med lite för lite CPU-prestanda. Det senare beror förstås på dina användningsscenarier – och de mobila ULV-kretsarna är inte direkt långsamma – men testmodellen kan inte ens använda sin fulla potential.

Detta leder oss till nästa problem för ThinkPad P50s: ThinkPad P50, tack vare en helt ny design, alla moderna portar, mycket bättre prestanda, låg ljudnivå och svala temperaturer. Fördelen med P50s är en något tunnare konstruktion och lägre vikt (gäller även adaptern). Men om storleken är det viktigaste finns det för närvarande inga riktigt starka alternativ till Dell Precision 5510.

ThinkPad P50s är trots allt en bra maskin, men enheten har i princip inte förbättrats sedan föregångaren. Det är därför svårt att rekommendera enheten - särskilt när man betänker den hårda konkurrensen.

Slutligen en fotnot om betyget: Vårt uppdaterade klassificeringssystem utvärderar också arbetsstationsprestanda utöver normal systemprestanda, vilket också påverkar betyget. Vore den en vanlig kontorsdator skulle P50s nå upp i betyget 85% istället.
