Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Basversionen av Lenovo ThinkPad T460s är även den en mycket bra kontorsmaskin. För cirka 1400 euro får du ett snabbt system med en tillräckligt kraftfull processor och SSD. Internminnet är dock bara 4 GB och bör uppgraderas, vilket också skulle förbättra grafikprestandan.

Vi är inte riktigt lika nöjda med Full HD-skärmen. Lenovo använder endast IPS-paneler, men ljusstyrkan lever inte upp till tillverkarens påståenden och WQHD-versionen presterar också bättre i andra avseenden. Ett ytterligare problem är att man använt olika Full HD-paneler som kan ha olika specifikationer.

Om du inte har problem med PWM, kan vi bara rekommendera WQHD-panelen. Den är för närvarande en gratis uppgradering när du konfigurerar datorn via Lenovo och den förbrukar inte så mycket mer ström än Full HD-versionen heller.

Lenovo har höjt TDP-gränsen (15 watt) för Core i5-processorn, men det förbättrar inte prestandan på grund av de jämförelsevis låga klockfrekvenserna. Du märker det bara när du belastar grafikkretsen samtidigt. CPU-krävande uppgifter kan dra nytta av en Core i7, men den klenare modellen av T460s gör faktiskt ett bättre intryck vad gäller temperaturer och batteritid. Den bästa kompromissen mellan de båda modellerna är förmodligen en konfiguration med Core i5 och WQHD-skärm.

På grund av bildskärmens låga ljusstyrka, som faktiskt kan begränsa användbarheten i ljusa inomhusmiljöer, bestämde vi oss för att dra av två punkter från slutbetyget. En premiumprodukt bör definitivt vara utrustad med en mer ljusstark panel.
