Lenovo ThinkPad T590 är den lättaste och mest kompakta modellen på 15.6 tum ur ThinkPad T-serien. Förr i tiden var den som inte ville ha en extremt tjock och tung dator tvungen att välja den mindre modellen på 14 tum. Så är inte riktigt fallet längre. Men den mindre Lenovo ThinkPad T490 är nog ändå det bästa valet för de flesta användare.
Detta beror mycket på att T490 och T590 på många sätt är extremt lika. Lenovo använder samma design på moderkortet till båda modellerna och de har identiska material och identisk konstruktion. Lenovo ThinkPad T590 har ett robust chassi med många anslutningsmöjligheter och säkerhetsalternatv, men det har också ThinkPad T490. Detsamma gäller de riktigt bekväma inmatningsenheterna som inkluderar ett utmärkt tangentbord, men för många användare har T590 en fördel på den punkten då den också har ett numeriskt tangentbord. ThinkPad T490 har också bättre batteritid än T490, åtminstone för FHD-versionen, då den har ett större batteri på 57 Wh. ThinkPad T590:s CPU presterar bättre än genomsnittet och fläkten håller sig för det mesta tyst, men så är också fallet på T490.
Den större skärmen kan tänkas vara ett argument för ThinkPad T590. Men LCD-panelens kvalitet är horribel jämfört med T490 och dess Lågenergi FHD-skärm. Färgomfånget och ljusstyrkan är mycket sämre. Lenovo erbjuder också en intressant 4K UHD-skärm som tillval, men en överväldigande majoritet av alla T590-enheter kommer troligen vara utrustade med FHD-skärmen. Andra svagheter, som att det är svårt att öppna chassit, att den har en microSD-läsare istället för en SD-kortläsare i full storlek, att chassitemperaturerna är höga och att Thunderbolt 3-porten bara är ansluten med två PCIe-banor gäller också ThinkPad T490. Så är också fallet med PowerBridge-funktionen, som Lenovo slutat med.
Om bara skärmen hade varit bättre: ThinkPad T590 är en bra laptop, men LCD-skärmen var en besvikelse.
Allt som allt kan vi ändå rekommendera ThinkPad T590 som en jämförelsevis mobil laptop på 15.6 tum med utmärkt prestanda för produktivitetsuppgifter. Men vi tycker att ThinkPad T490 är ett bättre val, särskilt om man inte behöver ett numeriskt tangentbord. Jämfört med andra enheter på 15.6 tum i samma klass, som HP EliteBook 850 G5, så har ThinkPad bättre inmatningsenheter och högre CPU-prestanda men en sämre skärm - om man då inte väljer modellen med en 4K UHD-skärm.
