För Comet Lake U-serien är prestandan mellan generationerna jämfört med den utgående Whiskey Lake U-serien minimal om du inte väljer den mer avancerade Comet Lake-U Core i7-10710U. Annars kommer enklare alternativ som Core i7-10510U prestera i princip likadant som den äldre Core i7-8565U.
Detsamma gäller Comet Lake H-serien. Prestandan från Core i7-10750H ligger väldigt nära Core i7-9750H, så nära att det i princip inte går att märka några skillnader, särskilt inte när man spelar eftersom spel snarare kommer vara begränsade av GPU:n än av CPU:n. Vill man ha en mer betydande skillnad i rå prestanda över Core i7-9750H får man istället överväga det mer avancerade alternativet Core i7-10875H.
Även om det inte är de nyheter entusiasterna hoppats på är det fortfarande bra nyheter för gamers som vill uppgradera sina gamla laptops. Faktum att 10:e generationens Comet Lake-H bara är marginellt snabbare än 9:e generationens Coffee Lake-H för mittenskiktsmodellerna innebär att du kan byta upp dig till en spellaptop med en processor från Intels 9:e generation och ändå få samma spelprestanda som på den dyrare modellen med Intels 10:e generation. Pengarna du sparar kan du istället använda för att uppgradera mer påtagliga aspeketer som skärmen eller minnet. Eller helt enkelt för att välja en totalt sett bättre modell som MSI GS65, GE65 eller GS65.
MSI GP65 10SFK är samma laptop som förra årets GP65 9SE men med en nyare och aningen snabbare processor. Man blir inte utan några spännande funktioner eller några enorma prestandafördelar genom att hålla sig till en Coffee Lake-H CPU.
