Samsungs toppskiktssmartphone Galaxy A80 är en ganska stor och tung enhet som får poäng för ett flertal innovationer: Snabbladdningstekniken som använder en laddare på 25 watt övertygar och har hittills bara varit tillgänglig på de dyrare Galaxy S-modellerna.
Samtidigt är framsidan helt utan något jack och har väldigt tunn infattning. Detta leder till ytterligare innovationer, som att skärmen används som hörlur med ganska medioker ljudkvalitet och en fingeravtrycksläsare under skärmen som inte heller fungerar lika bra som en vanlig sensor i höljet.
Men den mest spektakulära innovationen är definitivt den roterande huvudkameran som säkrar selfies av hög kvalitet. Men i praktiken är kameran ganska genomsnittlig och den inbyggda ToF-kameran används knappt alls, varken för ansiktsigenkänning eller för att styra gimmicks som på LG G8S ThinQ. Det är bara mätningsappen som använder den innovativa kameran. Kameran saknar också optisk zoom och har ingen optisk bildstabilisering. Blixten fungerar inte heller om kameran har roterats. Detta begränsar vår entusiasm över den här lösningen.
Samsung Galaxy A80 är inte perfekt och är en aning för dyr för vad den erbjuder, men den har många flashiga innovationer.
Batteritiden är gedigen men inte revolutionerande, vilket också gäller skärmen. Det finns dessutom telefoner som har både mer prestanda och en mer exakt GPS för samma pris.
Den som blev kär i den roterande kameran får leva med några brister men får också hög kvalitet och, trots allt, en snabb smartphone med ovanliga funktioner som knappt blir varm.
