Asus VivoBook S 15 OLED Snapdragon 8-core laptop recension - En nästan tyst vardaglig följeslagare med Snapdragon X Plus

Vi testade Vivobook S 15 OLED med Qualcomms Snapdragon X Elite-processor för bara några månader sedan. Det var en bra vardagsdator med en fantastisk OLED-skärm. Förutom ARM-arkitekturens begränsningar och de därmed sammanhängande kompatibilitetsproblemen var priset särskilt problematiskt, eftersom det rekommenderade priset var 1 269,99 USD och därmed i nivå med (eller till och med högre än) de jämförbara varianterna med Intel/AMD-processorer.

För att sammanfalla med lanseringen av de nya Snapdragon X Plus-modellerna med 8 CPU-kärnor, tar Asus ut en motsvarande konfiguration av Vivobook S 15 på marknaden. Prishoppet är dock inte så stort som förväntat, eftersom RRP är 1 149 euro (~ 1 270 USD). Bortsett från processorn är utrustningen identisk med den högupplösta 120 Hz OLED-skärmen, 16 GB LPDDR5x-8448 RAM och en 512 GB SSD. Men vilka kompromisser måste du göra med det nya Snapdragon-chipet, och är prestandan fortfarande tillräcklig för de flesta vardagliga uppgifter?

Bortsett från den nya Snapdragon-stickern finns det inga skillnader mellan de två versionerna av Vivobook S 15 när det gäller höljet eller funktionerna.

Prestanda - Snapdragon X Plus med 8 kärnor

Qualcomm har introducerat totalt tre nya Snapdragon X Plus-modeller, och Vivobook S 15 är utrustad med den långsammaste varianten. Den långsammaste varianten är X1P-42-100 erbjuder åtta kärnor och kombineras med 16 GB LPDDR5x-8448 RAM, som inte kan uppgraderas. NPU med 45 TOPS är identisk med de andra Snapdragon X-processorerna.

 
 

Testförhållanden

Asus erbjuder olika energiprofiler i den förinstallerade MyAsus-appen, som vi har listat i följande tabell. TDP-specifikationerna kommer från tillverkaren, den rena CPU-andelen av dessa är avrundade värden, eftersom detta värde inte kan läsas ut individuellt. TDP-specifikationen för de nuvarande Snapdragon X-processorerna inkluderar också styrenheten och minnet utöver processorn. Vi genomförde följande benchmarks och mätningar med standardprofilen Standard. Performance-profilen ger endast bättre prestanda för flera kärnor. Det finns också Full Speed-läget, men detta ökar bara fläktarnas hastighet.

Processor - X1P-42-100

Vi har redan testat den nya X1P-42-100 i vår Analysartikel i detalj. I grund och botten används endast prestandaklustret (8 kärnor) med en maximal klockfrekvens på 3,2 GHz här, medan en aktiv kärna kan nå 3,4 GHz. Effektivitetsklustret för de dyrare Snapdragon SoC: erna är inte installerat här.

På grund av den identiska klockfrekvensen är enkärnig prestanda i riktmärkena överraskande i nivå med Snapdragon X Elite (X1E-78-100) i Vivobook S 15 och är också mycket respektabel. Detta placerar också den minsta Snapdragon framför AMD: s Zen4-chips och Intels Meteor Lake-processorer. Den nuvarande AMD Zen 5-processorn är dock något snabbare. I de inbyggda flerkärniga testerna överträffas den lilla Snapdragon X Plus tydligt av jämförelseenheterna med Snapdragon X Elite eller Intel Core Ultra 7 155H. Prestandan här är återigen ganska svag, och Vivobook S 15 är faktiskt alltid på sista plats i vår jämförelsegrupp. Åtminstone förblir prestandan nästan identisk under kontinuerlig belastning och i batteriläge. Systemets prestanda

Resultaten är blandade i de syntetiska systemriktmärkena: Den lilla Snapdragon presterar ganska svagt i CrossMark över hela systemet, men webbläsartesterna visar en annan bild. I praktiken märker du för det mesta inga skillnader mot de snabbare Snapdragon-chipen, och Windows-upplevelsen är mycket smidig och responsiv. De nya 8-kärniga Snapdragon X Plus-modellerna är utrustade med den svagare Adreno X1-45 som finns tillgänglig i två prestandanivåer (2,1 eller 1,7 TFLOPS). Den mindre X1P-42-100 är utrustad med den långsammare varianten med 1,7 TFLOPS och en maximal GPU-klockfrekvens på 1,107 GHz. I grund och botten är prestandan 50% lägre än Adreno X1-85 med 3,8 TFLOPS, och i GPU-benchmarks får X1-45 också nöja sig med sista plats.

Vad betyder detta för vardagsanvändningen? Egentligen inte så mycket till en början, eftersom prestandan fortfarande är tillräcklig för grundläggande uppgifter, inklusive uppspelning av högupplösta videor. Spel var redan ett problem med Snapdragon X Elite-chipen på grund av kompatibilitetsproblem, och situationen förvärras ytterligare med den nya Snapdragon X Plus och X1-45 GPU. Även när gamla titlar körs smidigt med låga detaljer hade vi ibland betydande ramfall, vilket är anledningen till att spel inte är roligt.

Bullerutsläpp

Den klart lägre prestandan hos den nya Snapdragon X Plus har en positiv effekt på fläktarna, eftersom kylningen har betydligt mindre att göra och Vivobook S 15 förblir en mycket tyst enhet överlag. Du kommer praktiskt taget aldrig att höra fläktarna under daglig användning. Detta är definitivt en stor fördel jämfört med den snabbare Snapdragon X Elite-modellen, som var något högre även i viskningsläge (~ 33 dB(A)). Vi uppmätte också bara 29,7 dB(A) i standardfläktläge när vi spelade eller i stresstestet (gäller även viskningsläge). Det blir märkbart högre i prestandaläget med 42,8 dB(A), och fullhastighetsläget är absurt högt med maximalt 51,2 dB(A). Det fanns inga andra elektroniska ljud på testapparaten.

Temperatur

Det finns inga som helst problem med Vivobook S 15:s höljetemperaturer. Höljet blir knappt varmt vid tomgångskörning och enkla sysslor, och enheten kan även placeras på låren under stresstestet. Hotspot med maximalt 49,9 °C finns på undersidan i det bakre mittområdet, där det inte bör finnas någon hudkontakt. Överlag är temperaturerna under belastning också några grader svalare än den snabbare Snapdragon X Elite-modellen. Det finns inga begränsningar när du använder tangentbordet.

I stresstestet med kombinerad CPU/GPU-belastning arbetar grafikkortet konstant med hela 1 107 MHz, medan CPU-kärnorna snabbt planar ut vid 2,7 GHz. Chiptemperaturen ligger på ofarliga 70 °C.

Strömförbrukning

Batteriets livslängd

När man tittar på batteritiderna märks det att Vivobook S 15 med den nya Snapdragon X Plus bara håller längre under full belastning än X-Elite-modellen. Både i WLAN-testet och videotestet vid 150 cd/m² presterar den något svagare. Med 12,5 respektive 14,5 timmar är resultaten överlag bra, men några av Intels konkurrenter erbjuder ännu längre körtider.

I grund och botten är konceptet med de nya 8-kärniga Snapdragon X Plus-modellerna bra, eftersom de fortfarande erbjuder tillräcklig prestanda för vardagliga uppgifter till ett synligt lägre pris, så länge du inte vill spela spel. X1P-42-100 slås av konkurrenterna i nästan alla prestandajämförelser, men det är fortfarande en responsiv enhet i sig själv. Den stora fördelen är den märkbart lägre fläktaktiviteten och den övergripande ljudnivån. Många användare kommer förmodligen aldrig att höra fläktarna. Bortsett från det finns det naturligtvis ett bra fodral med tillräckliga anslutningar, bra inmatningsenheter och en mycket bra 120 Hz OLED-panel.

Den nya 8-kärniga Snapdragon X Plus är klart långsammare än Snapdragon X Elite, men du får också mycket tystare fläktar. Priset på 1 149 euro är dock helt enkelt för högt.

Begränsningarna i ARM Windows-versionen måste naturligtvis tas med i beräkningen, men det största problemet är priset på den nya Vivobook S 15. Den rekommenderade försäljningspriset är 1 149 euro, vilket är långt över förväntningarna på de nya Snapdragon X Plus-modellerna. För att göra saken värre är Snapdragon X Elite-versionen av Vivobook med 16 GB RAM och en större 1 TB SSD för närvarande tillgänglig online för 1 199 euro. Detta sätter den nya modellen i trubbel, och vi anser också att priset är för högt.

Den nya Asus Vivobook S 15 OLED med Snapdragon X Plus kan nu beställas direkt från Asus för 1 149 euro.
