Den senaste modellen, EM780, levereras med en AMD Ryzen 7 7840U och är en solid dator trots sin kompakta design. Mini-PC:n briljerar med 32 GB RAM-minne och moderna USB4-gränssnitt och är därmed nästan oöverträffad. Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 (Källa: Minisforum)

Minisforum har gett Mercury Series EM780 en nyare SoC som en uppgradering jämfört med EM680. Den AMD Ryzen 7 7840U har på samma sätt åtta inbyggda kärnor men är utrustad med en mycket nyare iGPU. Tillverkaren har inte heller snålat med minnet och har packat 32 GB LPDDR5 RAM-minne i enheten, men det är inte uppgraderingsbart. Förutom lagringskapaciteten är basspecifikationerna alltid desamma. Konfigurationen med en 512 GB SSD är för närvarande tillgänglig för €699 (US$619) i Minisforums onlinebutik. För 30 € mer (729 €, eller 639 USD) kan du också få Mercury Series EM780 med 1 TB lagring, vilket är den modell vi fokuserar på här.

Fodral - Mycket plast, men extremt kompakt

Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 använder samma chassi som EM680, vilket innebär att även den nya modellen är extremt kompakt. Med ett fotavtryck på bara 80 x 80 mm (3,15 x 3,15 in) tar Minisforum EM780 också bara upp mycket lite utrymme. Dessutom är enheten ganska tunn med en tjocklek på bara 43 mm (1,69 in). När det gäller material har Minisforum valt att ge enheten en plastkonstruktion. Plasten är anmärkningsvärt robust tack vare den kompakta konstruktionen. Endast ventilationsöppningarna är försedda med metallnät, vilket är avsett att ge komponenterna inuti tillräckligt med frisk luft.

Specifikationer

Trots att Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 är en av de minsta mini-PC:erna just nu, har den ett imponerande urval av I/O:er. Du får visserligen stå ut med vissa begränsningar, men allt viktigt finns i princip på plats. Det finns totalt fem USB-portar, varav två erbjuder USB4-hastighet. Förutom de två Type-C-portarna, som kan användas för videoutgång, kan du också ansluta en annan skärm via HDMI. Det innebär att upp till tre bildskärmar kan användas samtidigt med enheten. Men det finns något annat att notera: kringutrustning måste stödja Power Delivery eftersom EM780 strömförsörjs via USB-C-porten.

Anslutningsmöjligheter

I Mercury Series EM780 finns en Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1675w som säkerställer en stabil och snabb trådlös anslutning. I vårt realistiska test levererade Wi-Fi-modulen genomgående bra prestanda. Med det sagt kunde den inte riktigt nå upp till den prestandanivå som MediaTek RZ616 i EM680 visade när den var ansluten till ett 6 GHz-nätverk. Underhåll

Mängden användarunderhåll som kan göras på Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 är begränsat till ett minimum. Endast bottenlocket kan tas bort relativt enkelt om du någonsin behöver byta ut SSD-enheten under. Det finns ändå inget utrymme för en andra lagringsenhet i mini-PC:n. Det rekommenderas inte att ta isär enheten ytterligare, än mindre att demontera CPU-kylaren. Inuti lådan finns också en lapp som säger att flytande metall används för värmeöverföring.

Prestanda - AMD Ryzen 7 7840U med 8 kärnor och 16 trådar

Alla varianter av Mercury Series EM780 levereras med AMD Ryzen 7 7840U. Som efterträdare till Ryzen 7 6800Ukan den nyare SoC:n köras med något högre klockhastigheter och har den senaste Radeon 780M iGPU. Mini-PC:n bör kunna hantera mer krävande uppgifter bra att döma av dessa specifikationer. SoC:n flankeras av 32 GB LPDDR5 RAM-minne (6 400 MT/s) och en 1 TB SSD.

Vi valde energiläget "High Performance" under alla prestandarelaterade tester med denna enhet. De enda undantagen här är mätningarna av strömförbrukning och ljudnivå, som utfördes i enlighet med våra testkriterier.

Processor

Drivs av AMD Ryzen 7 7840U (Källa: Minisforum)

Med AMD Ryzen 7 7840Uhar Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 fått en effektiv SoC med adekvat prestanda. En sak som sticker ut är dock den jämförelsevis låga single-core-prestandan. Men Zen 4 SoC kan leverera solida resultat i prestandatester med flera trådar. Nästan alla enheter i vår jämförelse ligger jämsides när det gäller deras genomsnittliga prestandapoäng. Endast Geekom A7 med en AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS lyckades ta en något större ledning över resten av förpackningen.

Även om Mercury Series EM780 är exceptionellt liten och därmed har en mycket mindre kylenhet än de flesta andra mini-PC, är nivån på CPU-prestandan fortfarande enastående. Detta återspeglas tydligt i AIDA64-riktmärkena, där vår granskningsenhet tog andraplatsen.

Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 i Cinebench R15 Multi loop

Att köra Cinebench R15 i en loop är ganska krävande för Ryzen 7 7840U. Som ett resultat kan vi ta en titt på hur väl kylenheten fungerar. Resultaten efter 50 körningar visar att prestandan förblev mycket stabil över tiden. Med en genomsnittlig poäng på 1 896 kunde Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 på samma sätt säkra andraplatsen i detta test. Analys av CPU-data visade att SoC lyckades upprätthålla en strömförbrukning på 28 watt konsekvent. Vi registrerade en CPU-temperatur på nästan 70°C (158°F), vilket tyder på att Minisforum har gett EM780 en mycket effektiv kylare.

Systemets prestanda

Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 lämnade ett positivt intryck vid daglig användning. Resultaten från PCMark 10 är också ett eko av denna känsla. DPC-fördröjning

När Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 användes för grundläggande webbsurfning hade den inga som helst problem med ökad latens. Testpanelen klarade också utan problem uppspelning av vår 4K-testvideo, även om vi noterade några tappade bildrutor. Latensen ökade bara när Prime95 började köras. Vi tror att EM780 ändå fortfarande skulle vara en utmärkt streamingklient.

Masslagring

Mercury Series EM780 levereras med en extremt liten SSD-enhet på grund av sin design. Lagringsenheten, som bara är 30 mm (1,18 tum) lång, är tillverkad av Kingston och levererar användbara överföringshastigheter. Åtminstone är lagringsenheten inte permanent installerad och kan bytas ut. På undersidan av enheten har Minisforum placerat en extra fläkt och kylfläns för att förhindra att SSD-enheten överhettas. Detta system verkar löna sig eftersom läshastigheten förblev stabil under hela stresstestet. Precis som sin föregångare kan EM780 bara rymma en lagringsenhet.

Genom att använda en nyare Zen 4 APU har Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 nu en mycket kraftfullare iGPU än EM680: AMD Radeon 780M. Den nyare modellen är rankad över sin föregångare och ger bättre prestanda över hela linjen. Geekom A7 har samma iGPU, men kunde få ut lite mer prestanda från grafikkortet på grund av dess högre strömförbrukning. Skillnaden är dock relativt liten med endast 16 % skillnad i 3DMark Performance Rating.

Spelprestanda

Den utmärkta prestandan hos AMD Radeon 780M fortsätter i de testade spelen. IGPU har markant högre prestanda än Radeon 680M. Antalet spel som kan spelas på en ödmjuk iGPU har ökat massivt. Du får dock nöja dig med en lägre detaljnivå. Just nu är det bara ett dedikerat grafikkort som kan ge dig bättre 3D-prestanda än 780M. Den Minisforum Neptune Series HX99G är värt att kolla in om du vill ha en mini-PC med en dGPU. Som tillval kan Mercury Series EM780 också anslutas till ett externt grafikkort. Testar två eGPU:er med Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 presterar

Eftersom Minisforum har utrustat Mercury Series EM780 med USB4-portar kan handdatorn även användas tillsammans med ett externt grafikkort. Vi tog en titt på prestandavinsten från att para ihop mini-PC:n med ett GPD G1 och sedan med ett Razer Core X och ett Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. Medan AMD Radeon 780M redan erbjuder tillräcklig prestanda, kommer anslutningen av en eGPU fortfarande att öka 3D-prestandan märkbart. Ibland är det till och med möjligt att spela moderna spel i 1440p. Med detta sagt är tekniska begränsningar relaterade till USB4-gränssnittet något du måste ta itu med. Detta beror på att ett externt grafikkort endast kan kommunicera med mini-PC:n vid upp till PCIe 3.0 x4. OCuLink-gränssnittet är ett alternativ till USB4, men det är för närvarande endast tillgängligt på en handfull enheter. Att ansluta GPD G1 via OCuLink ger en prestandaökning på cirka 10%. En av de få minidatorer som har en inbyggd OCuLink-port är Minisforum EliteMini UM780 XTX.

Utsläpp av buller

Även om Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 har mycket kraft i ett extremt kompakt chassi, var de ljudnivåer vi uppmätte genomgående mycket bra. Vår testenhet nådde lite mer än 30 dB(A) vid tomgång. Ljudnivån ökade till ungefär 32 dB(A) under normal belastning och nådde 38 dB(A) under stresstestet. Det är dock värt att notera att fläkten i botten inte påverkade våra mätningar. Den primära bullerkällan är CPU-fläkten, som suger in frisk luft från ovansidan.

Temperatur

Vi såg inga extrema värden när det gäller chassitemperaturer. Botten blev något varmare än toppen på grund av SSD-enheten och kylflänsen. Själva processorn blev så varm som 83,9°C (183,0°F) under stresstestet. Minisforum har satt en termisk gräns för processorn, men detta är inte ett problem med tanke på att SoC kan arbeta kontinuerligt vid 28 watt (TDP).

Strömförbrukning

Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 är en mycket sparsam mini-PC. Men strömförbrukningen har i vissa fall ökat betydligt jämfört med EM680. Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 recension: exemplaret är vänligen tillhandahållet av Minisforum

Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 är en extremt liten PC som presterar bra i nästan alla avseenden. Mini-PC:n är utrustad med en modern åttakärnig processor i form av en AMD Ryzen 7 7840U. Samtidigt har SoC en ganska kraftfull iGPU som kan uppnå utmärkt prestanda trots den låga strömförbrukningen. Minisforum EM780 har en enorm mängd kraft på en yta av bara 80 x 80 mm (3,15 x 3,15 tum). Du kommer också att ha nytta av 32 GB DDR5 RAM-minne. Tyvärr är minnet varken expanderbart eller utbytbart, vilket är en av nackdelarna med så kompakta datorer. Å andra sidan är det möjligt att uppgradera masslagringen i EM780. Lagringsenheten har en relativt generös kapacitet på 1 TB. Enheten har en oklanderlig passform och finish, även om chassit till stor del är tillverkat av plast. Mini-PC:n känns fortfarande skön att ta på och materialvalet påverkar inte heller hur robust enheten är.

Den imponerande Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 erbjuder utmärkt prestanda i ett mycket litet paket, utan att offra avancerade I/O-portar som USB4.

Vi gillar verkligen kylsystemet. Det kan effektivt avlägsna värme från AMD Ryzen 7 7840U. Det finns ingen prestandaförlust ens under full belastning. Detsamma gäller även SSD-enheten, som har fått en separat kylenhet. Ljudnivån är ganska okej överlag, vilket innebär att du inte kommer att höra något irriterande ljud i bakgrunden när datorn är igång. Minisforum har kommit runt avsaknaden av en Ethernet-port genom att inkludera en adapter som du kan ansluta via USB4. Mini-PC:n EM780 kostar 729 euro (639 USD). Det är inte alls billigt, men du får en av de mest kompakta mini-PC:erna i den här prestandaklassen.
